Tracy Morgan Back From The Brink, Truck Driver Responsible For Near-Fatal Crash Charged

Tracy Morgan, known for his work on Saturday Night Live and 30 Rock, appeared on The Tonight Show on Monday night and E! News reports that he joked about going back into the coma he was in after his near fatal car crash in 2014. Morgan started the interview by pretending to be surprised that David Letterman was no longer hosting the show.

“I liked that dude. I’m going back in the coma!”

Tracy Morgan joked about how different things are with Donald Trump leading in the polls and then talked about Star Wars: The Force Awakens and how there is only one “black dude” in the galaxy.

“Hold up! One black dude in the whole galaxy! I’m p*ssed off, man! That was Lando Calrissian’s nephew. He pulled some strings to get him in the cadets. They got him doing that cr*ppy job. He left a good union job as a Stormtrooper. Good union job! I tried to get him an application for sanitation.”

Then Tracy Morgan talked about Rocky and how Balboa lost the second fight.

“Balboa lost that second fight. Apollo Creed carried that bum for 15 rounds in two movies. Balboa lost that second fight!”

Tracy Morgan had Jimmy Fallon, The Roots, and the entire audience in stitches. He is one funny guy! His little daughter also came to see The Tonight Show.

Back in October he returned to the comedy stage for the first time since his accident.

Now that Morgan is fully recovered and back on the scene, the Chicago Tribune reports that he will be starring in an FX comedy series. The pilot for the series will be written by Jordan Peele and John Carcieri. Nick Grad, FX’s president of original programming, says they have always been committed to Tracy Morgan.

“What an unbeatable combination – Tracy Morgan and Jordan Peele – two exceptional comics joining forces with a great team of writers and producers to create and produce this pilot for FX Networks. We’ve been committed to Tracy from the start and are thrilled that Jordan, John, Eric and Joel are joining him in developing this new project.”

As for the crash that injured Tracy Morgan, CNN reported last month that the truck driver responsible for the crash, Kevin Roper, is now being charged. In June of 2014, Roper experienced driver fatigue while at the wheel of his truck on the New Jersey Turnpike and crashed into the vehicle in which Tracy Morgan was a passenger.

Morgan suffered serious injuries and was in a coma for two weeks after the crash. Last November, Tracy Morgan told Complex that life would never be the same and that he even went to the other side when he was in his coma.

“Well, you’re never going to be normal after you go through something like that. You don’t die for a few weeks and then come back to normal, trust me. Something’s going to be missing, something’s going to be gained — you just got to live your life after that. But after surviving something like that, I’m probably never going to feel normal. I went to the other side. This is not something I’m making up. Do you know what God said to me? He said, ‘Your room ain’t ready. I still got something for you to do.’ And here I am, doing an interview with you.”

It’s fabulous to see that Tracy Morgan not only survived the crash in which he was involved in 2014, but is back to a level of health that will allow him to go back to what he does best – giving the gift of comedy to the world. Welcome back, Tracy Morgan!
