Taylor McKinney Talks His Engagement To Maci Bookout, ‘Loving Every Minute Of It’
Taylor McKinney finally popped the question to Teen Mom OG star Maci Bookout, and now he is dishing on why he chose to wait so long to propose and how the whole proposal went down.
Taylor and Maci have been dating for a little over three years, and they welcomed a daughter, Jayde, together last year. Many Teen Mom OG fans have been wondering when Taylor would ask Maci to marry him, especially since Maci was seen dropping some serious hints during several episodes. In the most recent episode, the couple traveled to Las Vegas where they got into a somewhat heated conversation on where their relationship was going.
On Wednesday, January 20, McKinney took part in an online Q&A on Teen Mom’s official Facebook page. One Facebook user questioned why Taylor was okay to have a baby with Maci, but didn’t want to marry her. Taylor responded by saying, “Well that wasn’t planned but why should I rush a proposal just because we had a baby. I wanted it to still be special to her. It might not be considered the ‘right way’ but it’s the way we ended up and we’re all good. Loving every minute of it.”

Another follower referred to the Las Vegas scene and said they thought it was childish of Maci to say they should just end their relationship if they weren’t planning on getting married. Taylor clarified what actually happened, and said that the viewers only got to see bits and pieces of what took place.
“You get to see a small portion of it,” McKinney wrote. “Don’t get it twisted. And that comment was about that conversation at the moment, not ending our relationship.”
Taylor also revealed why he chose this past weekend to propose, and revealed some details about the proposal itself, including that he had been working on her ring design for some time.

“The proposal just came together last minute. But I had been working on the ring with Tara at Ring Finger Studios for a couple months,” he explained. “I told myself I didn’t care what anybody else had to say, I was gonna do it when I felt the time was right. And when it hit me I just went with it.”
Maci Bookout shared the exciting news with her fans on Instagram on Tuesday with a photo of the couple kissing while Maci flashes her new bling. She captioned the photo by saying, “Well y’all, my best friend asked me to marry him! I’m one lucky lady, I love you T!”
Shortly after the proposal, Maci, the 24-year-old mother of two, spoke to MTV about the engagement, and how Taylor managed to pull off the ultimate surprise.

“We were on Venice Beach!” Bookout explained. “He (and MTV) had told me that I was going to do an interview for MTV.com, which turned out to be a complete trick just to get me to the beach for him to ask me. When he asked me to marry him, I was in complete shock. I couldn’t believe that it was actually happening, and to be honest, I couldn’t believe that he had pulled it off without me figuring it out…because I usually know everything!”
“I honestly don’t think it has actually ‘hit’ me yet,” she added. “But I am very excited and feel super blessed that I get to marry Taylor. He’s an amazing man and dad.”
