‘Legends Of Tomorrow’ — Everything We Know About The Latest ‘Arrow’ And ‘The Flash’ Spinoff

As The CW gets ready to premiere Legends of Tomorrow, the latest Arrow spinoff, here is everything you need to know before the first episode hits the air.

A very long time ago, back in 2001, the then-WB network debuted its version of a superhero show in the second longest-running North American sci-fi series of all time in Smallville. There were no capes in Smallville, or tights and funny looking costumes, but times have changed, and so has WB, which is now CW. The network is arguably the frontrunner for airing shows geared towards the comics and those ridiculous outfits the WB was so avidly against. Arrow hit first on CW and was immensely popular, and now, going into its fourth season, it has also kickstarted the show The Flash.

Now, both shows are enjoying great popularity while expanding the horizon of DC comic book characters, both villains and heroes alike, that are regulars on viewer’s televisions across the nation.

But now the network is attempting its biggest payoff yet. The groundwork has been laid, season by season, and a mix between Arrow characters, Flash characters, and all new DC characters are set to make splash in Legends of Tomorrow.

The CW, which already does a great job at crossovers between Arrow and The Flash, will have their hands full when they attempt to join each shows forces, both good and bad, in their own entire series to defeat whatever enemy the script writers can throw at them. Will people be intrigued? You bet. Both casual show fans and hardcore comic book junkies alike will be clawing at a chance to see all their favorite characters together, for the first time, on a TV series.

Legends of Tomorrow is right around the corner, but here is what is known about the first season of the much-anticipated show.

The CW is going to do Legends of Tomorrow the same way ABC does Agent Carter, which is air it midseason and not at the same time as Arrow or The Flash. But what is the show about? And who stars in it? Here are some answers.

The plot for Season 1 was revealed earlier this year and will star Arthur Darvill as the time-traveling Rip Hunter, who was first brought to life in the comic books way back in 1959. Hunter groups together an unexpected bunch of both heroes and villains alike who must join forces to defeat an unimaginable foe. Casper Crump is going to play the villain Vandal Savage, a scientist who gets immortal powers via a meteorite.

The group that Rip Hunter gathers includes The Flash’s Leonard Snart/Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller), Mick Rory/Heat Wave (Dominic Purcell), and Dr. Martin Stein/one-half of Firestone (Victor Garber). From the show Arrow, Brandon Routh will regain his role as Ray Palmer/the Atom, and Caity Lotz will be playing the part of her resurrected Canary/Sara Lance.

Alongside those already on the screen characters, Kendra Saunders (Hawkgirl) will be played by Ciara Renee, Franz Drameh will star as Jay Jackson, a character who will be involved with the S.T.A.R.S. lab team.

First reports of Hawkgirl joining the team of DC characters left Hawkman out, and it wasn’t quite clear how he would be involved in the plot. But executive producer Phil Klemmer recently told DCLegendsTV that Hawkman, played by Falk Hentschel, will be a regular on the show.

A recent trailer gave yet another exciting aspect to look forward to for fans of Arrow and The Flash. Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) and Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) will make appearances on Legends of Tomorrow from time to time given the indication of the recent trailer and the fact that both characters already do crossovers on each others shows.

The show’s extensive cast, which will appear in every episode, according to DCLegendsTV’s interview with Klemmer, promises funny moments, a little romance, and a lot of butt-kicking.

Legends of Tomorrow is scheduled to premiere Thursday, January 21 on The CW.
