Adam Lambert Might Be Offered American Idol Judging Spot
Ever since Simon Cowell brought in Kara DioGuardi, fired Paula Abdul and then chose to leave American Idol there has been rumors and speculation about who else would eventually be replaced or added into the mix. Now season eight winner Adam Lambert is rumored to be a possible choice for American Idol judge.
E! News is reporting that with Jennifer Lopez still trying to determine her next move producers at the show are taking a serious look at Adam Lambert.
An unnamed source says Lambert is the perfect and logical choice:
“He personifies the show, and will be a popular choice right from the start. He knows what it’s like to be on the receiving end of the judges’ comments, he has a human touch, and they know they can’t go wrong if they bring him on. He would be able to bring a unique perspective to the show. People love him.”
Should he be chosen he would possible share a chair next to long-time American Idol judge Randy Jackson and celebrity judge Steven Tyler. Although at this time Steven Tyler could also be getting the ax as ratings have continued to slip following a decent Season 10 debut for Tyler and Lopez.
It turns out that Randy Jackson may not be safe either. A source close to the show tells MTV News:
“Randy is great, but he’s part of the old ‘Idol. They want to keep the soul of the show but have a new look, and for that reason he may well not be part of the new line up.”
If that last statement is true it would be strange to tie the “new” version of American Idol into a past contestant, although Adam Lambert definitely made the show his own.
