Anderson Silva Invites Chael Sonnen Over For A Barbecue
Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen do not like each other. Well, they didn’t. But it looked like both fighters left their issues in the cage afater UFC 148.
Sonnen, who was highly critical of his opponent leading since UFC 117, said:
“They gave me the opportunity… Nobody owes me anything. I’m very grateful to be here and have the chance. He’s a true champion, man. He got me with a good knee.”
Sonnen walloped Silva for the first four rounds of UFC 117 but Silva was able to end the fight with a surprise submission. Since then, Sonnen has been working for a rematch to prove that UFC 117 was a fluke. He got his rematch last night but couldn’t defeat UFC’s best fighter.
Silva hit Sonnen with a knee to the chest during the second round. Sonnen fell and Silva pounced. The fight was called at the 1:55 mark of the second round.
And now with UFC 148 out of the way, and now that Silva has proven that UFC 117 wasn’t a fluke, it looks like the two fighters can stop, well, fighting.
After the fight, Silva said:
“Chael disrespected my country, but it’s fine. Yeah, I have big emotions. … (But) let’s show that Brazil has manners. I want everyone to applaud Chael. If you’d like to have a barbecue at my house, I’d love to have you over for a barbecue.”
USA Today reports that Silva has now won 15 consecutive UFC fights. Did you watch UFC 148?
