Ian Somerhalder Over His ‘Vampire Diaries’ Ex Nina Dobrev, Ready To Start A Family With Nikki Reed

Despite rumors of a coming split, Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed’s marriage appears to be as strong as ever. The couple made an appearance together during the recent Golden Globes ceremony, where one eye witness spotted the two exchanging secret vows of affection.

According to Christian Today, The Vampire Diaries star and Twilight alum attended the event in style. Reed wore a gold swirly-patterned dress while Somerhalder showed up on the red carpet in a traditional tux complete with a standard black bowtie.

The pair walked through the Beverly Hilton lobby holding hands when one eye witness overheard the two share an intimate moment. Somerhalder and Reed paused as they made their way to the event, with the former telling Reed “I love you” before the two exchanged a short kiss.

Somerhalder and Reed decided to express their affection away from the cameras and did not think anyone was spying on them in the lobby. Fortunately for fans, one lucky guest was able to spot the moment first hand.

“They did this all away from any camera,” the insider explained to Hollywood Life. “They didn’t know that I was eagle eye on them during that moment. But love apparently still burns with them.”

In the past, Somerhalder and Reed have not been afraid to express their affection in view of the public. In fact, the two have openly displayed their love for each other on multiple occasions, including on social media.

In contrast to the recent sighting, In Touch Weekly is reporting that Somerhalder and Reed are going through a rough patch in their marriage. Apparently, the main issue between the couple is Somerhalder’s desire to start having children as quickly as possible, which Reed is not ready to do.

The need to start a family is nothing new for Somerhalder, who expressed similar interests in his past relationship with Nina Dobrev. However, with Somerhalder recently turning 37, his chances at beginning a family of his own continue to dwindle.

Speaking of having kids, an inside source told OK! Magazine that Somerhalder “can’t wait to be a dad.” At the same time, Reed remains caught up in “the honeymoon phase” of their marriage, making it difficult for the two to agree on their future. In fact, Reed is wanting to concentrate on her acting over starting a family, which would be a major obstacle in furthering her career.

However, given their latest public appearance at the Globes, things appear just fine between the two stars. After all, Somerhalder and Reed not only exchanged loving words in private, but they also showed up at the ceremony in gorgeous fashion. If anything, their relationship is stronger than ever before as Somerhalder moves on with his life after Dobrev.

Meanwhile, according to Vine Report, Somerhalder met up with his TVD co-star Paul Wesley during a recent date with their respective wives. The foursome went out on the town for the 2016 Art of Elysium Heaven Gala, which took place in Culver City, California at 3LABS. The hosts of the event included Andreas Kronthaler and Vivienne Westwood.

Wesley is currently in a relationship with Phoebe Tonkin, who formerly made an appearance with Somerhalder and Wesley in The Vampire Diaries. Tonkin, who announced her relationship with Wesley back in the summer of 2013, is now starring in the spin-off series The Originals.

Given the recent sightings and public displays of affection, it would appear as though the rumors of marital issues are not true. Even still, until more information is revealed, there little chance that the rumors surrounding Somerhalder’s marriage with Reed will start to quiet down.
