Rihanna Begins Filming For ‘Valerian’ In Paris Amid Continued ‘Anti’ Album Release Date Rumors
Rihanna may be busy gearing up for the release of her highly anticipated eighth studio album, Anti, but it appears that Rihanna is also taking some time to begin filming her part in Luc Besson’s upcoming film, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.
In October, director Luc Besson took to Instagram to announce that Rihanna would be playing a “big part” in Valerian, albeit neglecting to comment on what role Rihanna will be playing in the upcoming sci-fi film.
According to Rolling Stone, Rihanna will be filming Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets alongside stars Cara Delevingne, Dane DeHaan, and Clive Owen for Luc Besson’s science-fiction flick that is based on the concept of time travel adapted from a French graphic novel set in the 28th century. The film marks Rihanna’s third large film role since lending her voice to Home in 2015 and appearing in 2012’s Battleship.
While little information exists about Rihanna’s filming schedule in regard to the upcoming movie, which is set to release on July 21, 2017, Rihanna was recently spotted on the set of Valerian while in Paris on January 16.

According to several Rihanna fan sites on Twitter, Rihanna was seen donning a casual Pulp Fiction shirt and brown beanie while snapping photos on the set of Besson’s impending film on Saturday.
Cara Delevingne also confirmed via social media that she has begun filming for Valerian over the past week, taking to Instagram to share several snaps of herself on the set of Besson’s upcoming film.

“…and so it begins! New film, new family #Valerian,” Delevingne wrote on her official Instagram account last week while donning a gold crown for the photo.
While fans continue to gush over Rihanna’s involvement in the sci-fi project, others are still eagerly anticipating the impending arrival of Rihanna’s new album, Anti, prior to the songstress’ “Anti World Tour” which kicks off next month in San Diego, CA alongside special guest Travis Scott.
Despite the lack of success from fans and media outlets in attempting to predict a tentative release date for Rihanna’s eighth studio album, new rumors have emerged suggesting that Anti could drop as soon as next weekend.Unreality TV alleges that Rihanna’s Anti album will drop on January 22 after the site obtained the album’s UPC number from a New Zealand online retailer’s webpage on Thursday. The site explains that while there is currently “no release date” listed for the album on the website, a quick Google search of the album’s listed UPC number indicates that the album is expected to be available for retail sale beginning next Friday.
Despite the lead, Rihanna fans were quick to point out on social media that a similar prediction for Anti occurred last year after another retailer disclosed that the album would be released on November 27, however, the rumored release date came and went with no word from Rihanna regarding the alleged delay in Anti‘s release.
While fans continue to wait for any news from Rihanna regarding her new album’s release, it appears that Rihanna has a new collaborative music video on the way for patient fans.
Last week, it was reported that Rihanna and Drake were spotted filming a new music video in Los Angeles for their new track, “Work,” marking the duo’s third collaboration following the success of Rihanna’s “What’s My Name?” and Drake’s “Take Care.”
While there’s currently no news regarding a release date for Rihanna and Drake’s new song and music video, reports suggest that “Work” will be featured on Anti rather than Drake’s impending Views From The 6 album.
