WWE Rumors: Chris Jericho Vs. Dean Ambrose Match Scheduled For ‘WrestleMania 32’ With Big Heel Turn
Chris Jericho just recently made his return to WWE and officially entered himself into the Royal Rumble in hopes of winning the whole thing. Jericho is back, but it’s never quite known how long he will stick around before heading off again, but some plans appear to be in the works. It seems as if not only is a heel turn in his near future, but so is a feud with Dean Ambrose and a match at WrestleMania 32.
On the Talk is Jericho podcast, Y2J discussed heading back to WWE and entering the rumble. It’s also been announced by WWE that upcoming events will have Chris Jericho and Sheamus taking on Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose. While it’s likely just a dark match, it is odd that he would be partnered up with a heel like Sheamus.
In time, this could lead to a feud between Ambrose and Jericho. This is a feud that is a long-time coming and one that actually makes a lot of sense.
Back during the summer, Ambrose and Roman Reigns were looking for a tag partner to team up with them to face off with The Wyatt Family. At Night of Champions, Jericho showed up, unexpectedly, as their mystery partner and everyone thought they were heading toward victory.
Well, that didn’t happen as Jericho blind-tagged himself in and then got destroyed by Braun Strowman. After the match, things didn’t go well, either.
After the loss, Reigns and Ambrose talked to Jericho in the ring and wondered what he was thinking. Jericho said nothing but shoulder-bumped Ambrose on his way out of the ring. He wasn’t then seen again until he just recently returned to WWE.In the past week, Jericho has been working as a babyface as expected, but the history is written for a heel turn and to attack Ambrose. That could also set up a nice feud between the two and lead to a possible Intercontinental Title match at WrestleMania 32.
The promo work alone between the two would be well worth it happening.
Dean Ambrose has a lot of the same qualities as Chris Jericho and really reminds a lot of people of Y2J from his earlier days in wrestling. The two are full of energy and don’t really listen much to authority while being able to go rogue and out on their own.
The feud between Dean Ambrose and Kevin Owens is likely to end very soon, probably by the time the Royal Rumble is over in a week. From there, the “Lunatic Fringe” will move onto someone else, likely with title still in hand, and it could very well be Jericho.Jericho is scheduled to be with WWE through Fastlane, at least, but could very well stay with the company through WrestleMania 32.
Bleacher Report also thinks the feud makes a lot of sense and while Ambrose has been winning again lately and has the IC Title, a victory over Jericho would elevate him even more. Giving him a serious feud and victory over Jericho at WrestleMania instantly gives him main event credibility.
The interesting thing, now, is how exactly it will begin. The Royal Rumble is an easy way to start any feud by having one or the other babyface eliminate the other. Confusion turns into anger, which turns into rage, and there’s your feud.
Knowing Jericho, he will also bring up the Night of Champions incident and, BAM, there’s history.
WrestleMania 32 plans are totally up in the air at this point and it isn’t really known what will actually take place. Nonetheless, a match like Chris Jericho vs. Dean Ambrose, especially with Y2J as a heel, could instantly add a lot of solid material to the card.
