Matthew McConaughey’s Family Traditions

Matthew McConaughey has certainly made a name for himself in Hollywood. The Academy Award-winning actor has a new movie coming out, called The Free State of Jones, and according to Entertainment Weekly, he is very passionate as his character speaks in the new trailer.

“I’m tired of it. You, me, all of us — we’re all out there dying so they can stay rich. This fight’s for our children, and our children’s children.”

Ethan Anderson, of Slash Film, discusses the trailer, stating that it isn’t the best trailer primarily because it gives away too much of the movie, but that the story of McConaughey’s character, Newt Knight, is worthy of a movie and will make it worth watching.

According to Entertainment Weekly, there is also a new poster for The Free State of Jones out, and it shows Matthew McConaughey’s face with a very intense look in his eyes.

Matthew McConaughey spent many years playing roles in mediocre romantic comedies before his “McConnaissance” with his Oscar-winning role in Dallas Buyers Club.

He has since gone on to star in some big movies, such as Interstellar and The Wolf of Wall Street, but GQ reports that Quentin Tarantino told Stephen Colbert that he is quite the fan of McConaughey’s previous romantic comedy work, particularly the movie Ghosts of Girlfriends Past. So, if Matthew McConaughey is such an amazing actor, what about the rest of his family? McConaughey’s wife, Camila Alves, told E! News that their kids are a very crafty, DIY bunch.

“We’re doing construction in the house, so I don’t have an office now. I don’t have a working space, so I’m really in the middle of the kitchen and all of it. We’re laughing, because we’re doing an arts and crafts project and I’m in the middle of all of it. We had my cat on top if [sic] it, by [sic] dog was on the other side, my daughter [Vida] was jumping in on other things helping out.”

It is certainly the case that Matthew McConaughey is a family man, despite his hectic acting schedule. Channel 24 reports that since his wife is Brazilian, she has a very specific New Year’s Eve tradition from her country that the whole family takes part in.

“My wife’s tradition in her country is to wear all white and go to the ocean and get little white flowers and put them in the sea. We’ve done it the last few years.”

Matthew McConaughey spent the holidays with what is most important to him in life – his family. He really loves getting together with family during the holidays.

“Family. We always get together. We have family all over the United States, mainly around Texas and we switch out on who is going to go where and when. To get all the kids together is great, as my children’s best friends are my brother’s children. And it is time to give thanks. We stay at home and tell the stories — some of the same old stories are always told. That’s always been the most important tradition, to have my family together.”

That is a very beautiful outlook regarding the festive season, and one so many people share. It was probably very good for Matthew McConaughey to have some down time during the holidays, too, because no doubt he is back and work and busier than ever. He is still filming his latest movie, Sing, and then after that, who knows what is next? Knowing Matthew McConaughey, something great.
