WWE News: NXT Stars Chad Gable And Jason Jordan Were Backstage At ‘RAW’, Are They Headed To The Main Roster?
NXT stars Chad Gable and Jason Jordan, who began teaming last summer, have become one of, if not the most popular tag teams on the NXT roster, and they could very well be the best team WWE has to offer right now.
As previously mentioned, Gable and Jordan have become WWE developmental’s most popular team in a very short amount of time, and it’s pretty much a universal feeling that they’re more than ready to be called up to WWE’s main roster, as they would inject more life into the tag team division, and they would be suitable adversaries for the WWE Tag Team Champions, The New Day.
On Monday night, Wrestling Inc. reported that Gable and Jordan were backstage at RAW, which got many thinking that they would end up debuting on the show at some point. However, they didn’t end up appearing on the show, and as of right now, it’s unclear why they were backstage at RAW.
Jordan and Gable being backstage at RAW doesn’t exactly guarantee that they’ll be called up to the main roster at some point in the near future, as NXT stars, such as Finn Balor, have been backstage at RAW several times and still haven’t been called up to the main roster.
Often times, when WWE has a NXT star appear backstage during RAW, it’s because they want to show that particular star how things work on the main roster, regardless if they have any immediate plans to call them up to the main roster.
If Jordan and Gable are called up at some point in the next couple of weeks, it would be a bit of a surprise because many have been expecting Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady to be the next team to be called up to the main roster. But, while it would be a surprise, it certainly wouldn’t be undeserved.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer has noted many times in the past that other than a handful of guys like Samoa Joe and Finn Balor, there may be no one who is more ready to be on the main roster than Chad Gable, saying that Gable has it all.
While Gable has a great personality and great credentials, the one thing that’s going to hold him back as a singles star on the main roster is something that has held many great wrestlers back in the past: his lack of size.
If you’ve been watching WWE Breaking Ground on the WWE Network, which is a behind-the-scenes reality show about life in NXT, then you’ve gotten the impression that WWE wants Jason Jordan to be a huge singles star, and because of his lack of personality, they put him with Chad Gable, hoping that while he’s teaming with Gable, some of Gable’s personality will rub off on him.
If they’re kept in NXT for the majority of this year, and if they keep getting the reactions they’ve been getting as of late, especially the reactions they got while in the United Kingdom, Jordan and Gable should be in for a huge year in WWE’s developmental system, and they’ll likely be called up to the main roster towards the end of this year, if not sooner.
As of this writing, Jordan and Gable have yet to get a crack at the NXT Tag Team Titles, and it’s expected that they’ll begin feuding with the champs, Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder, at some point in the next couple of weeks, and they’ll presumably end up getting a NXT Tag Title run. For now, they’ll remain in NXT, which is probably for the best.
