Backstreet Boy A.J. McLean and wife Rochelle announced the pregnancy of their first child together on Youtube back in April. The couple was elated to welcome new life into their world. Yesterday, not to keep any of us out of the loop, the couple has announced that they’re having a girl and plan to name her Ava James McLean so she has the same initials as her father.
A.J. McLean’s daughter is due in November, and wife Rochelle even wrote on the web about their excitement in addition to their Youtube announcement, “[We] feel like kids on Christmas Eve!!! Doctors appointment tomorrow to have an ultrasound and hopefully find out the sex!!” The couple announced the baby’s sex in another video saying, “it’s crazy–the first Backstreet girl.”
Rochelle on Wednesday thanked the Backstreet Boys fans and supporters for all of their words concerning the pregnancy, writing, “Just want to thank EVERYONE for all the amazing wishes!! So much love for little Ava Jaymes and she’s not even here yet.”
In the past it hasn’t always been happy news for Backstreet Boy A.J. McLean. In 2001 McLean announced he suffered from drug and alcohol addiction and went to rehab. His second stint in rehab was in 2002, and his last time in rehab was in January 2011 citing “personal reasons”, but it’s likely he went back in for drugs and alcohol.
In December of 2011 A.J. married wife Rochelle Karidis, who he said was the number one reason he overcame his addiction.
Congratulations to the happy couple.
