From Mick Jagger To Media Mogul: Jerry Hall Engaged To Rupert Murdoch

Jerry Hall has come a long way from being a supermodel and wife to Mick Jagger, as her engagement to media mogul Rupert Murdoch has been officially announced. In fact, she started off her career shoveling horse poop.

The Inquisitr recently reported that Mick Jagger’s former wife, Jerry Hall, 59, was officially dating 84-year-old Rupert Murdoch. Her new boyfriend is an Australian-American businessman, well known as a media giant and CEO of News Corporation, the second-largest media conglomerate in the world. Well now it seems the relationship has gone to a whole new level.

As reported by Times Live, the couple were together over the weekend at the Golden Globes Awards in Los Angeles, and that is apparently where the media mogul popped the question. You can see Hall, dressed in a beautiful black gown and accompanying her new life partner in the image below.

Reportedly the news came via the normal, old-fashioned method. It was posted Monday in the Marriages and Deaths section of the Times newspaper, one of Murdoch’s holdings.

“Mr Rupert Murdoch, father of Prudence, Elisabeth, Lachlan, James, Grace and Chloe Murdoch, and Miss Jerry Hall, mother of Elizabeth, James, Georgia and Gabriel Jagger are delighted to announce their engagement.”

While Jerry Hall has been married just once — to the lead singer of the Rolling Stones, Mick Jagger — Murdoch is heading for his third marriage when the pair officially tie the knot. Murdoch seemingly split from his third wife, Wendi Deng, back in 2013.

This is quite a way to go for a girl who grew up with little money in a Dallas suburb, with an alcoholic father that reportedly had a bad temper and didn’t treat her well.

Hall got her first job at the tender age of 11, cleaning out horse stables and literally shoveling poop. Apparently, by the age of 16, she had finally had enough and decided to head to Paris, carrying just one suitcase.

According to the Washington Post, Hall said back in 1985, “I was 5’10” when I was 14, skinny and flat, with huge feet, and I never had a boyfriend.”

Heading to Paris turned out to be just the thing, as she soon landed a career as a model and worked for Revlon and Yves Saint Laurent. At that time she met Bryan Ferry of Roxy Music, and reportedly they were together for two years. However, Ferry did not, apparently, enjoy Texas, and their romance fell apart.

Apparently enjoying being with rock stars, she reportedly began dating Mick Jagger while she was still with Ferry. Things were backwards and forwards between the two stars for a while — she apparently loved both men at once — but she ended up marrying the lead singer of the Rolling Stones.

The couple were together for two decades and had four children together, but after Jagger had a child with another woman, the marriage simply fell apart. Apparently, Jagger’s constant unfaithfulness had finally gone a step too far.

Now, the 59-year-old Jerry Hall starts a brand new chapter in her life as she becomes engaged to Murdoch, a man said to be worth some $11 billion. Apparently they were introduced to one another in Australia by Murdoch’s sisters and niece.

According to a spokesman for the Murdoch family, “They have loved these past months together, are thrilled to be getting married and excited about their future.”

There is a mixed response on the social media about the engagement with some saying surely Jerry Hall “isn’t that desperate” and with Gawker tweeting a particularly nasty comment: “Jerry Hall to Wed a Toad.”

There was quite a bit of humor too.

And some sarcasm too.

Jerry Hall was certainly interested in getting married again, and according to Times Live, prior to meeting her future husband she told the media, “I’d like to settle down with someone. There’s nothing nicer than someone who is loving and caring.”

However, at that stage she said she had yet to meet the right person since her divorce from Mick Jagger. Now it seems she has.
