Michelle Dobyne’s Video On Fire: ‘Not Today!’ Woman Gets 11 Million Views, Gives Update [Video]

There’s another viral video that’s being compared to the “Ain’t nobody got time for that!” and “Hide yo kids, hide yo wife!” viral video crazes. Those viral videos made Kimberly “Sweet Brown” Wilkins and Antoine Dodson famous. This time, it’s Michelle Dobyne who is going viral because of her humorous reaction to an apartment building fire. “Not today!” she said, repeatedly. In the YouTube video, Dobyne is seen explaining how she was cooking breakfast when a friend told Michelle that she heard a popping sound.

When Michelle said there was a woman outside with a baby who had no shoes on in the cold, Dobyne knew something was wrong. Dobyne left her Tulsa, Oklahoma, apartment when the fire broke out. Her “Not today!” refrain is very similar to Sweet Brown’s “Ain’t nobody got time for that!” refrain, which was also in response to a fire.

“Aw man…the building is on fire. I said, ‘Not today!'”

The “Not today!” response is making some laugh and others cringe with its Amos ‘n’ Andy type of buffoonery; but, either way, Dobyne is getting attention. Dobyne’s “Not today!” video is catching fire, reports the Daily Mail and the humorous antics are getting Dobyne the help she needs after the fire for herself and her children.

According to a post on the Facebook page of Charlie Hannema, as reported by News On 6, a new video update shows Dobyne speaking about how she’s living in her car after the fire. It also provides information on how to help Michelle and others who suffered loss in the fire.

“Here’s an update on Michelle Dobyne, the woman who millions of people have seen describe her experience in an apartment fire Sunday morning. Michelle told our Rick Wells that she’s sleeping in her car to keep an eye on her apartment while it’s boarded up. As you can see from the video below, she hasn’t lost her positive outlook on life despite a tough situation.

If you’d like to help, Annie Chang News on 6 talked with Michelle and collected the following information:

Anyone wanting to send cards, clothes for the kids or cash/checks can mail them to:

Michelle Dobyne
1341 E 62nd St, Tulsa, OK 74136

Michelle has three children: a three-year-old and six-year-old girl, and a five-year-old boy. She says they are in need of clothes. Michelle’s neighbor, a woman named Centoria, also lost a lot of her 9-month-old’s baby’s clothes and the baby’s bed in the fire. You can send her donations to the same address!

We’ll have a story coming up on KOTV – The News On 6 at 6, and I’ll post the link here after it airs.

Hopefully, Michelle’s spirit during the struggles can be a message to people around the world.”

In the updated video, Michelle Dobyne says that the apartment is boarded up. She can’t get in. Dobyne claimed that fears of someone stealing her things is what urged Michelle to sleep in her car nearby. “Not today!” That’s the personality that made her famous, and her male companion repeated the refrain in the new video, saying that Dobyne’s video received 11 million views.

While thieves won’t likely be able to steal from Michelle Dobyne, she claims that was really her personality in the viral “Not today!” video. Many viewers couldn’t believe Dobyne was so upbeat after a fire. Dobyne said she hadn’t eaten. The man with Michelle Dobyne said he experiences that winning personality every day, and that their household is a fun household with no problems other than the fire.

The fire left more than 100 people powerless. It was the Casa Linda apartment complex that caught on fire early on Sunday. Dobyne is being called “Sweet Brown 2.0” because of her viral “Not today!” video.
