Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani continued their flirtatious ways on social media this past week. Following the passing of the new year, the two stars took to Twitter to express their goals for 2016. While the interaction between The Voice stars began innocently enough, it wasn’t long before things heated up.
The flirty exchange began after Shelton posted on Twitter how his New Year’s resolution “was to be on every s***ty tabloid known to man.” In response, Stefani replied with a quick, “@blakeshelton your so funny and #cute” on her Twitter account.
Naturally, Shelton followed that up with a cute message of his own for Stefani. “And with that it’s already a great 2016!!!!!!!!” he wrote.
According to People , the two calmed down for the rest of the day. However, things picked back up after it was announced that Shelton had took home a People’s Choice Award for Best Country Artist.
“Whoa!!! I won a @peopleschoice award for country artist tonight!!! And @NBCTheVoice won also!!!!!! Thank yall!!!” Shelton wrote.
Stefani responded by congratulating her new boyfriend on his success, complete with a plethora of emojis.
Shelton and Stefani announced their new relationship back in November, months after both singers split from their spouses in the summer of 2015. Ever since getting together, the two have not been afraid to express their love for each other in a variety of mediums. This includes while on the set of The Voice , out in public, and on social media.
While many fans love seeing the two gush over each other, some may be surprised to learn how Shelton’s ex-wife feels about the situation. According to Daily Caller , Miranda Lambert, who was married to Shelton for four years until their divorce this past year, is actually very supportive of her ex-husband’s relationship with Stefani.
“Gwen and Miranda are actually big fans of each others’ music and respect each other as artists,” an inside source revealed to E! News . “Miranda has always thought very highly of Gwen and thinks she is an extremely talented artist.”
The source went on to explain that Lambert hopes that things work out between Shelton and Stefani and that she is already moving on with her own life, which includes her new boyfriend, Anderson East.
“Miranda is happy that they are doing well and wishes the best for them,” the insider stated. “Miranda is focusing on herself and enjoying her new relationship. Miranda is in great spirits!”
At the same time, Us Magazine is reporting that Lambert may be supportive of Blake Shelton’s new relationship, but that doesn’t mean she pays attention to their public displays of affection. While Lambert recently liked one of Stefani’s posts on Twitter, the country star is not one of Stefani’s followers.
While this is understandable given the interactions between Stefani and Shelton on social media, Lambert followed Stefani on Twitter at one point in time. In fact, as little as one month ago, Lambert was a part of the No Doubt singer’s following.
Although the reason behind Lambert’s decision to unfollow Stefani on social media is not known, there is a good chance that it had something to do with Stefani and Shelton exchanging flirts. Either way, Lambert is making the best of her situation and appears happy with East, whom she has been dating for the better part of a month now.
As far as Shelton and Stefani are concerned, fans can expect to see more flirty exchanges on social media in the future. If the past few months are any indication, then 2016 is going to a love filled year for the two stars.
