Iman Abdulmajid: David Bowie’s Wife Posts On Twitter, Instagram After Bowie’s Death [Photos]
David Bowie has died at 69 years of age, as reported by the Chicago Tribune. Bowie died on Sunday only days after the musician celebrated his birthday on Friday. David died Sunday after releasing Blackstar, a new album, and Bowie’s death came as a shock to those who had no idea he was suffering from any illness. As a result, Bowie’s wife, Iman Abdulmajid, has been posting on Twitter and is the focus of those who have known Iman as a supermodel who has been by David’s side for years.
One recent tweet posted by Iman on January 10 comes with the command to “Rise,” and uses the hashtag #ImanDaily. In that tweet, a photo posted by Iman speaks of faith.

Iman and Bowie have been married since 1992, as reported by Heavy. Bowie fell in love at first sight with Iman. It was a unique marriage as interesting as Bowie’s life and creativity itself. Bowie’s hits, like “China Girl” from his 1983 album Let’s Dance, prove just how far-reaching was his “Fame,” another hit.

Iman spoke about Bowie, their daughter, and racism in the fashion industry months ago, as reported by Harper’s Bazaar. In that interview, Iman spoke about her original name Zahra and the meaning of the name being a flower of the desert. Iman and David’s daughter, who was born in 2000, is named Alexandria Zahra Jones, paying homage to Iman’s original name.
On Instagram, “the real Iman” has posted similar thoughts in the wake of the saddening death of Bowie. David’s wife is waxing nostalgic with throwback photos of Bowie getting dressed in his fabulous style and photos of David with Tina Turner and others.
“Sometimes you will never know the true value of a moment until it becomes a memory.”
Photos of Iman in her supermodel heyday are also shown on her Instagram account, including a throw-back photo with a topless Iman from 1986 and a photo of Iman with Madonna. One of the most recent photos of Iman to be found online shows Iman and David as Bowie is introduced to Rihanna. It was a charity event for leukemia on April 28, 2011, in New York City.
On Twitter, the search term David Bowie has received a whopping 2.87 million tweets, with fans discussing their shock over Bowie’s death and posting photos of Iman and David together over the years. The 60-year-old Iman posted on Instagram months ago about growing old gracefully.
