Kansas City Cop Lets Two Women Off In Exchange For Sex
A Kansas City police officer has been charged with corruption after alleged incidents in March and April accusing him of not arresting two women in exchange for sex.
Jeffrey Holmes, 47, allegedly told two women on separate occasions that he would not arrest them if they would have sex with him instead. One woman told police that she had been working as a prostitute at the time, and the other had outstanding warrants and marijuana in her hotel room during her run-in with the corrupt officer, according to NY Daily.
The judge presiding over the case entered a “not guilty” plea on Holmes’ behalf during his arraignment on Tuesday and released him on $75,000 bond, according to The Huffington Post. Kevin Regan, the officer’s lawyer, didn’t immediately respond to messages seeking a comment on the case.
The Kansas City woman who was working as a prostitute said that she was contacted by a man who was interested in soliciting her services. Holmes showed up in full police uniform, telling the woman that she was “busted for prostitution.” The woman initially refused an order to put her hands behind her back, saying she “knew something wasn’t right.” She called the desk clerk who came up, but shortly left. After that, Holmes told the woman he wanted her to be a “snitch” and started to “’rub and hug” her. She admitted to having sex with Holmes “because she wanted him to leave.”
The second victim said that Holmes approached her in full uniform, asking if she was a prostitute. She said that she wasn’t, but he made her take him to her hotel room. He said that they were going to have sex. When she asked why, he responded, “You don’t want to go to jail, do you?” She took him to her room where he discovered marijuana. She had sex with him, and later took a picture of the used condom (for evidence?).
Holmes’ next court date, a preliminary hearing, is scheduled for July 19.
Do you think that this is a clear-cut case of police corruption?
