Homeless Orlando Man Snuck Into Luxury Hotels and Billed Stay to Previous Guest

David Price,a homeless Orlando man, has been living in lap of luxury for two years now staying at some of Florida’s most luxurious and exclusive hotels. He hasn’t found money or a new fancy job, he found a way to rip off hotel patrons and it took law enforcement more than two years to catch up with him according to the Huffington Post.

Price has stayed at hotels like the Ritz Carlton, the Hard Rock and the Loews Portofino. According to Orlando police the list of hotels that he may have stayed at could grow now that he has been caught and his identity and method are known.

WFTV reports Price would come into the hotels and when he saw someone checking out he would sneak into their hotel room after the guest had left. He would then call the front desk and extend the occupant’s stay and charge all expenses to the guest that had left their credit card on file. He had put a $9,000 dollar bill on an Ohio man’s bill at the Portofino Bay Hotel in Orlando, Florida

The victim, Joseph Barak told a local news station,

“I don’t know how he got in my room or how he got my debit card, but he got like the best wines, the best restaurants, room service,”

Price only got caught due to bad luck. He tried to extend the stay of a reservation that had been made by a worker at the hotel. Price faces charges of grand theft and obtaining food and lodging in attempt to defraud an innkeeper, according to ABC News.

USA Today says that all Disney resort hotels are reviewing their records to see if Price had hit them.

Robert Siciliano, a McAfee Security Systems identity theft expert, explained to ABC News,

“There’s a flaw in the hotel’s policy when it comes to properly checking identification. [Scammers] come off as being calm, cool, and collected to the receptionist or the desk clerk, and they are believable.”
