DC’s ‘Legends Of Tomorrow’ — Everything We Know About The ‘Arrow’ Spin-off Ahead Of January 21 Premiere Date [New Trailer]
Working off the success of The Flash and Arrow, The CW’s newest series, Legends of Tomorrow, promises to bring even more action to DC’s growing TV universe. In addition to the release of an exciting promo video, what can fans expect to see unfold in The CW’s latest superhero series?
For starters, Female First is reporting that the series is set to premiere on January 21 on The CW. Furthermore, the debut episode is set to be a special two-part installment, offering fans a longer look at the new show.
Apart from the premiere date, Legends of Tomorrow will include a number of characters from The Flash and Arrow. In fact, the majority of the lead characters in the new series have played a part in either The Flash or Arrow. This includes Martin Stein (Victor Garber), Atom (Brandon Routh), White Canary (Caity Lotz), Heat Wave (Dominic Purcell), and Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller).
In addition to the main cast of the show, there is a possibility that some of the regular cast members on The Flash and Arrow will make cameos in the new series. After all, both shows have a history of crossovers, which opens the door for Grant Gustin, Stephen Amell, Katie Cassidy, and David Ramsey to join the series at some point.
At the same time, Den of Geek is reporting that Legends of Tomorrow will include a number of new characters to go along with aforementioned group. This includes Hawkgirl (Ciara Renee) and Hawkman (Victor Garber), both of whom fans were introduced to in previous crossover episodes. Additionally, fans can expect to see Franz Drameh in action as Firestorm and Doctor Who’s Arthur Danville as the mysterious leader of the group, Rip Hunter.Meanwhile, according to Tech Times, the main bad guy in Legends of Tomorrow will be the time traveling villain Vandal Savage (Casper Crump). Savage was introduced to fans during the latest crossover episodes between Arrow and The Flash. Although the character was destroyed in the episode, he is set to make a return in Legends of Tomorrow.
Not only is Savage the first big villain the new team will need to take out, but he will also be one of the toughest they have encountered to date. Given his status as an immortal time traveller who is some 6,000 years old, Savage will certainly pose a number of difficulties for the newly-formed group of superheroes.
In order to take down Savage, the team of heroes will need to come together and settle their differences. Given the dynamics of the team, this might prove difficult at first. The problem is that the group is not your average team of superheroes. In fact, the team is made up of a bunch of outcasts and criminals, so trust is likely to be an issue.
However, this is one element of the series that creator Phil Klemmer recently explained was important to the storyline. “To me, those are the sort of heroes that really interest me — the underdog versions,” he stated. “Superman’s awesome, but he doesn’t have problems that I can relate to. I like the f-up heroes, and the sort of crooked heroes, and to combine them and watch them bump up against each other — that’s a recipe for TV that’s fun to write.”
Klemmer went on to discuss how the series will incorporate a heavy dose of time travel, and that fans can expect to see the characters visiting some of history’s most interesting moments. Of course, the only catch is that they will have to deal with Savage wherever they go, along with whatever evil he plans to throw their way.Tell us!
