Ian Somerhalder Desperate To Start A Family With Nikki Reed, As His ‘Vampire Diaries’ Ex Love Nina Dobrev Gets Serious With Austin Stowell

Ian Somerhalder has been unable to escape the mounting rumors surrounding his marriage with Sleepy Hollow’s Nikki Reed. While it appears as though Somerhalder’s marriage is in jeopardy, is The Vampire Diaries star attempting to start a family in order to stave off a divorce?

According to Movie News Guide, Somerhalder has long wanted to start a family of his own. Now, with Somerhalder’s marriage on the line, the actor is reportedly trying his best to convince Reed that they should start a family in order to keep their relationship alive and well.

Somerhalder’s desire to have kids is believed to have caused issues in some of his past relationships. This includes Somerhalder’s split with former TVD star Nina Dobrev. If Somerhalder is pushing Reed to have children and the actress declines, how long will the couple last?

As far as Reed is concerned, Movie News Guide is also reporting that she is not ready to have kids at the moment. Reed’s career in television is starting to take off with her role in Sleepy Hollow, and it appears as though she is more focused on her acting career than starting a family.

In order to start a family with Somerhalder, Reed would likely have to quit her role on Sleepy Hollow. At this point in her career, it does not not look like Reed is willing to make that sacrifice just yet, despite Somerhalder allegedly pressuring her to do so.

Reed’s career goals are pretty much the opposite of Somerhalder’s, who may be getting ready to step away from The Vampire Diaries. After all, the show has seen a dip in ratings this season since Dobrev is no longer in the picture. Now that the series has been moved to a new night and time, it appears all but certain that Somerhalder’s days on TVD are numbered.

Additionally, Somerhalder’s age might have something to do with his desire to start a family as soon as possible. With the actor approaching 40, his male biological clock is ticking.

That being said, the relationship between Somerhalder and Reed may not be on the rocks, after all. According to a report by Celebrity Dirty Laundry, Somerhalder understands Reed’s need to pursue her career goals and is willing to wait as long as it takes to start a family of his own.

“[Ian] is mature enough to know there’s give and take in marriage. [Somerhalder] will keep asking until he gets a yes!” an insider close to the couple revealed.

Just how long will their relationship last without kids? Is Somerhalder’s persistence putting too much of a strain on their relationship?

With rumors of a divorce running wild, Reed recently tried to put such speculation to rest in a post to Instagram. In the message, Reed expressed her love for Somerhalder and seemed optimistic that things would work out between them.

“You are my every dream brought to life. With our hands pressed together I know that we will always find our way home,” she wrote to Somerhalder.

While many continue to question the relationship status between Somerhalder and Reed, Dobrev seems to be doing just fine with her new boyfriend, Austin Stowell. In fact, the former TVD star recently posted a number of affectionate pictures of her and Stowell on Instagram.

Following her posts on social media, many began to speculate that Dobrev and Stowell may be getting ready to take their relationship to the next level. Is it possible that the two might get engaged in the coming months?
