‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Spoilers: Cristina Yang, Owen, And More Teased

Grey’s Anatomy fans still have a month to wait for the return of the series to ABC’s Thursday night line-up. The mid-season finale left fans with some major cliffhangers, but the biggest question on everyone’s minds involves Owen Hunt.

What happened to his sister?

Nathan Riggs has shaken things up in a big way with his arrival at Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital. Martin Henderson is the man behind the character, and he knows fans expected a lot out of his arrival. His casting was announced immediately after the death of Derek Shepherd.

Some fans felt that meant he was coming in as a new love interest for Meredith Grey, who is played by Ellen Pompeo. Henderson has made it clear that he is not the next McDreamy, but there is some tension between Meredith and Nathan.

However, she is behind Owen 100 percent. She made a promise to Cristina when she left Seattle that she would watch over Owen, and she is doing that. She even said she was willing to take Nathan on his word. She is trying to be his person, but Owen Hunt does not open up easy.

This is something that the people that know him best like Cristina and Amelia have learned. Dating Owen Hunt is not easy.

Design & Trend shared some comments made by Kevin McKidd about the storyline involving Riggs and his sister. The actor spoke about Owen’s situation. No one knew that he had a sister. Even Meredith said that to him directly at the end of the midseason finale. However, McKidd revealed that Cristina Yang, who was played by Sandra Oh for 10 seasons of Grey’s Anatomy, likely knew about the sister and the situation involving her and Riggs.

McKidd also teased that Owen will talk to Cristina about the situation. Now, does this mean fans will see Sandra Oh back on the show this season? Nothing is pointing to that at all. Owen can say he talked to Cristina without her even being seen on the show. Phone calls, emails, texts, and more could be used to communicate with his former wife.

There is a big secret surrounding Nathan Riggs, though, and fans have been tossing around all kinds of possibilities. Some fans even tossed out the possibility of Riggs being Owen’s sister. According to Christian Today, one news outlet said that a transgender storyline is not likely.

What is Rigg’s big secret? Fans will need to tune in next month to find out what the cast has planned next. The mid-season premiere has already been teased as a big episode. Ellen Pompeo and Shonda Rhimes have both spoke about the episode that features Denzel Washington behind the camera as a director.

The cast of Grey’s Anatomy has already returned to work for 2016. The cast was back on set on Monday. The Grey’s Anatomy Twitter shared photos of the cast on set and at work earlier this week.

Some members of the cast were also on hand on Wednesday night at the People’s Choice Awards. Grey’s Anatomy took home the award for Favorite Network TV Drama. That is saying a lot after the fan reaction to Derek Shepherd’s death in April. Some fans said they would stop watching the show after his death.

It is clear that this series is still a fan favorite. The loss of Patrick Dempsey did not hurt the series’ popularity. Has the death of Derek Shepherd made Grey’s Anatomy a stronger series? That will likely be debated by fans as the series continues with Season 12.
