Together Again: Miley Cyrus And Liam Hemsworth
Sparking rumors that they are together again, Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth were seen as a couple at the Falls Music Festival at Byron Bay, Australia, on Sunday night, January 3. Known to have broken up their engagement two years ago after a three-year relationship, the quadruple-platinum singer and the Hunger Games star were spotted necking at the festival and partying with Hemsworth’s two brothers and others.
According to Billboard, Cyrus reportedly slipped into Australia the previous week to join one-time fiancée Hemsworth, together with his family and friends in Byron Bay, a popular beach town on the country’s east coast. The timing of her appearance late Saturday night allowed the pair to watch Disclosure perform at the Falls Music Festival.
Cyrus, 23, and Hemsworth, 25, got engaged in May 2012 after meeting on the set of the 2010 film The Last Song. Although their engagement was called off by September 2013 without any wedding date set, they’ve kept up their friendship. Hemsworth gave the following explanation to Men’s Fitness on October 7 about the puzzling relationship.
“You fall in love with who you fall in love with; you can never choose. I guess some people just come with a little more baggage. I mean, look – we were together five years, so I don’t think those feelings will ever change. And that’s good because that proves to me that it was real. It wasn’t just a fling. It really was an important part of my life and always will be. She’s a free spirit. I think she’ll always surprise people with what she does, but she’s not a malicious person in any way. She’s a young girl who wants to do what she wants to do.”
According to People, numerous fans were able to take photographs of the famous duo at some point during the weekend festivities, including the shot of them together again at a restaurant. Online speculation was rife but spokespersons for both Cyrus and Hemsworth did not respond to requests for comment.
Cyrus made the tabloids when, at the age of 14, she revealed herself as pansexual to her mother while they were together. In June 2015, Cyrus again told reporters that she was “gender fluid.” By way of clarification, she released the following statement.
“I never want to label myself! I am ready to love anyone that loves me for who I am! I am open.”
After a pre-teen two-year relationship with actor Tyler Posey, Cyrus moved on to singer Nick Jonas, and they dated from June 2006 to December 2007. It was while filming The Last Song in June 2009 that Cyrus got together with her co-star Liam Hemsworth and regarded him as her “first serious boyfriend.” Their three-year dalliance developed into their engagement in June 2012, but their relationship came to a sudden end when they both agreed to call it quits in September 2013. After that, Cyrus moved on again to actor Patrick Schwarzenegger and stayed with him until April 2015.
As for Hemsworth, he began his relationship with The Last Song co-star Miley Cyrus in June 2009, lasting three years. They lived together in Los Angeles, and he proposed to her in 2013 with a 3.5-carat Neil Lane engagement ring. By September, their relationship was over. In July 2014, Hemsworth revealed that they would “always be best friends” and they’d enjoyed “an instantaneous and powerful connection.”
According to Us Weekly, aside from the Falls Music Festival at Byron Bay, the ex-lovers have devoted a lot of their time to be together, with Cyrus going as far as to help Hemsworth adopt a puppy in November. After Cyrus reserved the puppy at Wylder’s Holistic Pet Center and Rescue in the vicinity of L.A.’s Studio City on November 15, Hemsworth again obliged by claiming it for adoption.
Hollywood Life reports that Cyrus read Hemsworth’s October 7 interview with Men’s Fitness, admitting his continuing love for her, and she texted him on it. He answered back, and they made plans to get together for the Aussie festival. Are they both once again responding to a mutual attraction that’s always been there?
