Bernie Sanders Blasts Donald Trump For Comments Regarding ‘Bill Clinton’s Sex Life’
Although Bernie Sanders has resisted any calls or temptation to mount a negative campaign against Democratic Party rival Hillary Clinton, the outspoken senator from Vermont has seen fit to defend his opponent by lashing out against GOP frontrunner Donald Trump. On Sunday, Sanders appeared on CNN and articulated some of his most significant differences of opinion with the real estate mogul turned aspiring elected official, with particular emphasis on Donald Trump’s recent comments regarding Hillary Clinton’s husband, former president Bill Clinton.
“Maybe Trump should worry about those issues rather than Bill Clinton’s sex life,” Sanders said to CNN‘s Dana Bash, according to a transcription provided by Business Insider. “I think we have more important things to worry about in this country than Bill Clinton’s sex life.”
Sanders has been frank regarding his critique of Hillary Clinton on matters of policy, but relations between Democratic candidates have been largely congenial compared to some of the bitter in fighting between Republican candidates.
Donald Trump recently declared that Bill Clinton’s somewhat extensive history of controversies regarding trysts and affairs, including Clinton’s near-impeachment over his relationship with White House intern Monica Lewinsky. A prolific user of social media, Trump unleashed a volley of Clinton-related sniping via Twitter last week.If Hillary thinks she can unleash her husband, with his terrible record of women abuse, while playing the women’s card on me, she’s wrong!

Hillary Clinton has announced that she is letting her husband out to campaign but HE’S DEMONSTRATED A PENCHANT FOR SEXISM, so inappropriate!

Trump’s recent allusions to Bill Clinton’s infidelity are not the only instances in which he has shown a willingness to get personal in his attacks upon Hillary Clinton. In April, Donald Trump’s Twitter account re-tweeted a comment that indirectly blamed Bill Clinton’s indiscretions on Hillary, then linking that issue to Ms. Clinton’s fitness for high office.
“If Hillary Clinton can’t satisfy her husband, what makes her think she can satisfy America?”
The tweet was later deleted and blamed on a “social media staffer,” according to Daily Mail.
Despite all of Donald Trump’s politically motivated interest in Bill Clinton’s love life, a report by The Blaze notes that Trump himself once explicitly asserted that Clinton’s affairs were “totally unimportant.” The blustery businessman’s comments were made during a 2008 interview with CNN.“[Bush] lied! He got us into the war with lies! And, I mean, look at the trouble Bill Clinton got into with something that was totally unimportant, and they tried to impeach him, which was nonsense.”
For his part, Bernie Sanders agrees more with the 2008 incarnation of Donald Trump than the talking points of Trump’s presidential campaign. During his above-noted conversation with Dana bash, Sanders indicated he feels obligated to take Trump to task at this point in the campaign, characterizing his Republican rival’s most recent personal attacks on the Clintons as “over the edge.” Sanders has also previously described Trump as a “pathological liar,” according to ABC News.
Later in the day on Sunday, Trump turned his attention back to Hillary Clinton herself, accusing the former Secretary of State of having a hand in the creation of ISIS. As per a report by USA Today, Donald Trump also said that Ms. Clinton has “caused tremendous death” during her work in the Obama administration.
