Paul Feig, writer and director of the Ghostbusters reboot movie, talked about the cast. It’s an all-female group, but the original cast members — Dan Akyroyd, Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, and Sigourney Weaver — will all return in cameos. Feig also spoke about Kristen Wiig’s character, particle physicist Erin Gilbert.
“Particle physicist, academic firebrand, spectral warrior.”
Clearly, Feig didn’t want to divulge too much information. But, he did go into more detail about the chemistry of the four ladies on the set. Kristen Wiig and her co-stars Melissa McCarthy (scientist Abby Yates), Kate McKinnon (researcher Jillian Holtzmann), and Leslie Jones (transportation official Patty Tolan) are reportedly doing well.
“They are four incredibly talented women, each with a unique voice and style of comedy. The fact that they meshed so well and complemented each other so well made this team of paranormal warriors a very interesting and fully-rounded group. The funniest people who come from sketch, stand-up, or just comedy, in general, work well together because the good ones know they are only as good as those they are playing off, against, and with. The set was a fun, supportive and creatively fertile environment.”
There has been plenty of controversy surrounding the new, all-female cast of Ghostbusters . E! Online reports that in 2015 Kristen Wiig spoke with the Los Angeles Times about the response to the new Ghostbusters movie and she said it confused her.
“The fact there was so much controversy because we were women was surprising to me. Some people said some really not nice things about the fact that there were women. It didn’t make me mad. It just really bummed me out. We’re really honoring those movies.”
When she isn’t making hit movies or stirring up gender-driven controversy, Kristen Wiig is getting down with some of her celebrity homies. GQ reports that Wiig recently joined the likes of Amy Schumer, Brie Larson, Elizabeth Banks, Saoirse Ronan, and Seth Rogan, just to name a few, in a cover of “Hotline Bling.” The video is pretty darn funny.
Even Drake loved the cover.
Kristen Wiig is climbing the ladder of success in the film industry and fans just love what she does. Her talent, charm and versatility as an actress will take her a long way. After all, according to IFC , Wiig has been nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award for her comedy performance as Delores DeWinter in The Spoils Before Dying , a mini-series produced by Will Ferrell .
