Alec Baldwin Quits Twitter (Again): “It’s Been Fun”

Alec Baldwin deleted his Twitter account yet again just one day after his wedding to Hilaria Thomas.

The 54-year-old actor left the microblogging social media site for the second time after sharing wedding photos over the weekend. “It’s been fun,” the 30 Rock star tweeted before apparently closing the door on the social network. Despite this, he is still continuing his most recent tradition of giving media figures the cold shoulder, snarling at a Daily News reporter who asked about his marriage in Greenwich Village on Sunday.

Previously, Baldwin left Twitter in a rage back in December following an incident on an American Airlines flight. He was kicked off the plane for refusing to turn off his phone prior to takeoff. He stated in his defense that a flight attendant had “reamed” him out for playing “Words with Friends” while the flight was still waiting to take off. The hiatus ended on January 7th, when the actor’s some-560,000 followers were greeted with, “Back on Twitter,” according to the Post.

New wife and New York yoga instructor Hilaria Thomas has, by contrast, changed her name to @hilariabaldwin and continues happily tweeting, notes MSNBC.

Though some media outlets have speculated that Baldwin’s recent nuptials contributed to his decision to leave Twitter, we think it’s just the next step in his increasing desire for privacy. Though Baldwin has rarely been a friend to the media, he has stepped up his animosity toward the paparazzi recently, and as of Monday, shows no signs of slowing down.

“You can walk away now,” he said to a reporter who asked about his wedding Sunday. “You can walk away,” he repeated, somehow hanging on to his temper.

Baldwin’s angry and often graphic outbursts have been the subject of media scrutiny. Don’t forget that he once said he could have killed ex-wife Kim Basinger’s lawyer “with a baseball bat,” calling his daughter a “thoughtless little pig” in 2007, and then his threat to TMZ founder Harvey Levin who posted the angry voicemail from Baldwin to his daughter. “I wanted to stick a knife in him and gut him and kill him and I wanted him to die breathing his last breath looking into my eyes.” Whew!

Now we at IQ don’t think that Alec Baldwin is pulling away from the media to avoid controversy. We don’t think he much cares what people think of him, no matter what he says. After all, he keeps saying stuff!

But he’s lost a lot of weight lately and taken a keen interest in personal fitness.

So…. steroids?
