WWE Rumors: Details On ‘Royal Rumble’ Match — Who Is In? Who Is The Number One Entrant?
The Royal Rumble is less than a month away, and WWE still hasn’t officially announced a single match for it. It’s known that the Rumble match will be a part of the show, but there hasn’t been a lot revealed about it. Rumors about the entrants in the match are starting to surface, and one huge name is in it. Is Big Show going to be the number one entrant?
On Monday Night Raw, a number of wrestlers came out to the ring to interrupt Miz TV, as reported by WWE.com. This was the first true build-up for the Royal Rumble, and it showed a bunch of lower- to mid-card superstars stating that 2016 is going to be their time to shine.
The Miz came out to the ring and started talking about things, but he was constantly cut off by one superstar and then another. By the time it was over, the ring included Zack Ryder, Goldust, R-Truth, Heath Slater, and Ryback, but there was one more on the way.
It can be pretty much expected that none of those in the ring on Monday night have a real chance of winning the Rumble match. Before the segment ended, though, Big Show headed out to the ring, and he hasn’t been seen on WWE television in quite some time.
Big Show entered the ring and knocked out Heath Slater before clearing everyone else out as well. That is before he ended up being challenged by Ryback, but not before the big man said he was officially entering the Royal Rumble and saying he would win the whole thing.
After Big Show announced he would enter the match, there appeared to be a bit of confusion as to what number he would draw. Wrestling Inc. is reporting that even though Big Show announced himself as the first entrant into the match, it’s not exactly as people think it is.
Big Show was simply saying that he was going to be the first person to enter the Rumble match, but he didn’t mean he would be the number one overall in the match. Apparently, it’s causing so much confusion that a segment is going air on Raw on Monday or at some point so that things can be cleared up.
So far, Big Show is literally the only person taking part in the Royal Rumble in any way. WWE.com has updated their preview for the event and has him prominently featured because he’s the only one announced for anything.
That’s going to change since there is still plenty of time.
Each year, 30 participants take part in the match to determine who will go on to main event WrestleMania and battle for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Over the years, the time between entrants has changed, but it’s sticking to 90 seconds for the 2016 event.
“Perhaps the single most anticipated bout of the year, the Royal Rumble Match is utterly unique for its scale, rules and major stakes. Prior to the match, all 30 competitors draw their entry number randomly. The Superstars who draw Nos. 1 and 2 begin the bout, and a new Superstar joins the fray every 90 seconds until all 30 Superstars have entered the ring. The only way to be eliminated is to be thrown over the top rope and to the outside, with both feet touching the floor.
“The last man standing will not only be the 2016 Royal Rumble Match winner, but also the No. 1 Contender to the WWE World Heavyweight Title at WrestleMania.”
Big Show is a tough competitor and always one of the biggest threats in the Royal Rumble, but it isn’t really expected that he will win the match. WWE likely has different plans in the works and more entrants to name as the weeks go on.
