‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta’ Drama: Is The Show Headed For Cancellation Without NeNe Leakes?
The Real Housewives of Atlanta has been extra messy this season. With the departure of NeNe Leakes and the return of Sheree Whitfield part time, things have gone downhill quickly. This was supposed to be the season of all seasons, but it is instead turning out to be the one that could tank the entire show. The Real Housewives of Atlanta has always been one of the highest ranking shows in the franchise for Bravo, and this season the viewers just aren’t there for the duration. Will this season end the reign of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, or will it be able to rebound with the upcoming episodes?
According to Radar Online, NeNe Leakes left The Real Housewives of Atlanta due to conflict with executive producer Carlos King. While both deny there is a feud going on, an insider tells the online outlet that there is indeed tension. Of course, Leakes will tell you that she left because she was over The Real Housewives of Atlanta, but that is not the case. She came back for appearances this season and went on the group trip to Jamaica. If she was truly over it, she would have not made time to be where she needed to be while being filmed. After seven seasons, Leakes was ready to be done with the show that opened up several doors for her.

Ratings for The Real Housewives of Atlanta have not been terrible for Season 8, but they also haven’t been as high as predicted. The thought behind the change up with the cast was that it would draw in more viewers. Instead, it may have alienated some viewers. The drama with the ladies of The Real Housewives of Atlanta has gotten intense. Friendships that once were everything are now obsolete. Kandi and Phaedra have fallen apart, and it is intensifying the drama among the women. Cynthia has also been acting out of character, especially when she came after Porsha. Things just aren’t the same on The Real Housewives of Atlanta.
The most recent episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta really showcased just how far things have deteriorated among the cast members. During Kandi’s launch party, Phaedra and Porsha were talking about Kandi and Todd. Kandi’s friend Don Juan overheard the mess and confronted the women. Drama happened, but it was nothing that kept people talking about for days. According to E! Online, The Real Housewives of Atlanta is about to get complicated after the confrontation between Don Juan and Phaedra. Will this be the end of Kandi and Phaedra’s friendship?

Constant fighting this season has brought ratings for The Real Housewives of Atlanta. When Kim Fields and Kenya Moore had a confrontation, the viewership jumped significantly. Prepping for these brawls and creating press for them has helped to keep the show being talked about, but it will wear off. NeNe Leakes being off this season has affected The Real Housewives of Atlanta in a negative way. People looked forward to Leakes and her nonsense and without it, there isn’t much going on.
Only time will tell if there will be a Season 9 of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. With the women being at odds and Kandi being pregnant, there is no telling how the rest of the season will go. Right now, each of the cast members have their own drama. NeNe Leakes has her own career outside of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. If given the opportunity to voice their opinions, some fans would like her to return to the show. There is no telling where The Real Housewives of Atlanta is headed but it doesn’t look very promising at this point, especially with all of the drama happening.
