Enrique Iglesias Fan Hysteria In Sri Lanka Calls For Medieval Torture [Video]
When Enrique Iglesias performed in Sri Lanka, the hysterical reaction by his female fans has called for a medieval form of torture – whipping with toxic stingray tails.
Spanish pop star Enrique Iglesias recently performed a concert in Sri Lanka, and his female fans literally went wild. Reportedly, you can’t do this kind of thing in the Asian island nation, and the president has called for the return of an old form of torture as punishment. He said the guilty should be whipped with the tails of toxic stingrays.
The concert was held on December 20 at the rugby stadium in Sri Lanka’s capital city, Colombo, and female fans were seen running on the stage to hug and kiss the Spanish singer, throwing their panties at him and removing their bras.

Reportedly, President Maithripala Sirisena was not impressed at this lewd behavior at the Enrique Iglesias concert and has called for the return of the traditional medieval flagellation torture using toxic marine life.
As reported by BBC News, President Sirisena said at a public meeting in the city, “This is most uncivilized behavior that goes against our culture.”
However, it is not Enrique Iglesias’ female fans who were threatened with the severe punishment — it’s the people who organized the concert that could be threatened with a whipping of a lifetime.
“I don’t advocate that these uncivilized women who removed their brassieres should be beaten with toxic stingray tails but those who organized such an event should be.”
President Sirisena was also outraged at the price of the tickets sold for the Enrique Iglesias concert, which went for between 5,000 and 35,000 Sri Lankan rupees, which converts to around $35 to $250, with the latter including free alcoholic beverages as well as entrance to the “Sex and Love” concert.

It was while speaking at an event in the Ampara District, east of Colombo, that President Sirisena made his announcement.
He felt he had to speak out about the behavior at the Enrique Iglesias concert, saying, “As a Sinhalese Buddhist, I cannot refrain from expressing my views. I will speak out when our traditions and culture are harmed.”
The concert was one short stop on Iglesias’ current “Sex and Love” world tour and was promoted by Live Events Sri Lanka, a company owned by two former cricket stars, Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardena. Presumably, these are the two gentlemen set to suffer a whipping with toxic stingray tails — or will they?

As reported by BBC News, the form of torture that involves whipping hardened criminals with toxic stingray tails was thought up during the Middle Ages in Sri Lanka. While not actually used anymore, reportedly it is used conversationally to indicate that a particular act or person deserves harsh punishment.
However, if throwing or attending a concert in the seemingly rather conservative nation of Sri Lanka, situated just off India’s shores, it is probably not a good idea to throw panties on to the stage and whip out your bra. You just never know what might happen.
According to ABC, the organizers have since apologized for the “negative experience” and admitted that security at the rugby stadium “failed alarmingly” during the Enrique Iglesias concert. However, this was reportedly done without directly mentioning President Sirisena’s threats.
