Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy, and his wife, ex-supermodel and singer/songwriter Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, are apparently expecting their second child, amid reports that the pregnant Bruni is suffering with depression according to the Daily Mail of London citing a French tabloid.
On the other hand, sources cited by New York magazine claim the pregnancy rumor is false.
The Daily Mail reports that…
Friends said she had the “baby blues” after giving birth to baby Guilia last September, and was now suffering from “presidential blues” after quitting the Elysee Palace.
Doctors were urging the former supermodel to have “total rest” because she is an older mother giving birth in her 40s…
“We wondered what the Sarkozy couple would do with themselves after leaving office, and now we know – play happy families!’
After marrying in February 2008, Bruni and Sarkozy had their first child (Guilia) last October, which marked the first birth for a French incumbent head of state since Empress Eugenie had Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte 155 years ago.
Bruni has one other child from a previous relationship, and Sarkozy has several children from prior marriages. Sarkozy, who was defeated in his reelection bid last month by Francois Hollande, claims he is retired from politics, but politicians do have a habit of trying to make comebacks into elected office.
Bruni, 44, is still considered one of the most beautiful women in the world and recently appeared in the well-received Woody Allen movie Midnight In Paris . According to reports, she has had past relationships with Mick Jagger and Eric Clapton among others.
