Joey Feek Cancer Update: Joey And Rory Celebrate Christmas Surrounded By Family, ‘The Best Gift Of All’
Joey and Rory Feek had a lot to celebrate this holiday season. Not only did they get to move into a larger home where Joey, Rory and Indiana would be more comfortable, but most importantly, Joey was still here to celebrate with them.
As The Inquisitr previously reported, Joey Feek was diagnosed with stage four cervical cancer in 2014, three months after her daughter Indiana (Indy) was born. Following her diagnosis, Joey underwent a radical hysterectomy to remove the cancerous tumors, and several rounds of chemotherapy and radiation. Although she appeared to be getting better, a mid-October scan revealed that her cancer had not only returned, but had spread to other parts of her body, including her colon.
Joey’s cancer was continuing to spread rapidly and aggressively, leaving her doctors with nothing left to do. Yes, she could continue to receive chemotherapy and radiation, but it would only buy her a little more time, not the cure she had so desperately hoped, and more importantly, prayed for. As tough as it was, Joey finally said enough is enough. Rather than continue to put her body through the treatments, she decided to stop and return to her home in the care of hospice to spend out the remainder of her days, however many that may be, with her family and friends.
Since Joey’s cancer diagnosis, her husband and duet partner Rory Feek has been documenting her battle on his blog This Life I Live. He also shares frequent updates with Joey and Rory fans on their Facebook page. On Friday, December 25 (Christmas), Rory shared a photo on Facebook of Joey surrounded by her family opening gifts. Feek captioned the photo by saying, “…celebrating Christmas with Joey, surrounded by family. The best gift of all. Thank you Lord.”On Thursday, December 24 (Christmas Eve), Rory shared another post on Facebook of a heartwarming video of Indy playing on the playground with her older sisters Hiedi and Hopie. In the video, Indy can be seen with a huge smile on her face, swinging away as her sisters take turns pushing her.
Rory captioned the video by saying, “…Indiana and her big sisters at the playground today. Thank you to our sweet friend Georgia Claire Varble for the song about the innocence of Christmas.” After she got tired of swinging, Indy received a little help from Heidi and Hopie as she made several trips down the slide, all the while with a smile that could brighten anyone’s day.

Last week, Rory shared a blog post titled “santa baby,” where he revealed that Santa and Mrs. Clause had arrived at the Feek residence for a pre-Christmas visit. Not only did Santa show up at their door, he came packing a box full of gifts, which Miss Indy of course loved, however it took her a bit longer to warm up to the man in the red suit himself.
“Some friends of ours from Arkansas, Dave and Nicole Trudo, called a few days ago and said that they were sending a box filled-with-goodies to us and that it was going to be delivered in a special way… and boy, they weren’t kidding,” Rory wrote.

He had the real beard, the real belly, and on top of that he had the kindest smile and a heart for special babies and mama’s with no hair… I loved him from the moment I met him.”
