Joey Feek Cancer Update: Former ‘Can You Duet’ Cast And Crew Comes Together To Wish Joey And Rory Merry Christmas

It has almost been eight years since Joey and Rory Feek won the CMT singing competition, Can You Duet. Therefore, to celebrate their dear friends, the former Can You Duet cast and crew members got together to wish the couple a very Merry Christmas.

As the Inquisitr previously reported, Joey Feek has been fighting a fierce battle with cervical cancer since she was diagnosed in 2014, three months after giving birth to her daughter, Indiana (Indy). Following her diagnosis, Joey underwent a radical hysterectomy and rounds of radiation and chemotherapy. Although she appeared to be kicking cancer’s butt, a mid-October scan revealed that her cancer had not only returned but had spread to other parts of her body, including her colon.

Because the cancer was spreading so rapidly, there was nothing left for her doctors to do, leaving Joey with a tough decision… to continue treatment, or say, “enough is enough.” With the help of her husband and duet partner Rory Feek, Joey chose the latter and returned to her home in hospice care so she could spend the remainder of her days, however many that may be, surrounded by her family and friends.

Since Joey’s diagnosis, Rory has been documenting her battle on his blog This Life I Live, sharing both new and old memories, and frequent updates on Joey’s condition. Feek has also been updating Joey and Rory fans on their Facebook page. On Wednesday, Rory shared a video made by their friends from Can You Duet.

“In January, it will be 8 years since Joey and I auditioned for, and appeared on CMT’s Can You Duet. We had no idea at the time how much it would change our lives. What a wonderful blessing. Almost as wonderful as the special video Christmas card we received last night from some of the cast and crew members who got together to brighten my wife’s Christmas.”

“It truly did! Thank you my friends. Merry Christmas.”

In the video, the group sings a very upbeat song called, “It must be Christmas.” At the end of the video, each former cast and crew member talk into the camera, wishing Joey and Rory a Merry Christmas. Those who appeared in the video include David Oakleaf, Nick Brownell, Caitlynn Lynn, Meghan Linsey, Julia Salter, Margaret and Garrett Smith, Ryan Larkin, Will Snyder, Marylynne and Brad Stella, Sixwire, Mike King, Tom Zaleski, Doug Forbes, Larry Boothby, and Jeremiah Richey.

Last week, Rory shared a blog post called, “santa baby,” where he revealed that Santa Clause had visited the Feek family a bit early this year.

“Some friends of ours from Arkansas, Dave and Nicole Trudo, called a few days ago and said that they were sending a box filled-with-goodies to us and that it was going to be delivered in a special way… and boy, they weren’t kidding,” Rory wrote.

Feek then continued his post by describing the man in the red suit that visited his house, explaining that he was no ordinary mall Santa.

“The Kris Kringle that showed up at our door wasn’t your ordinary shopping-mall Santa. This one was the real deal… or as close to it as I’ve ever personally seen. He had the real beard, the real belly, and on top of that he had the kindest smile and a heart for special babies and mama’s with no hair… I loved him from the moment I met him.”
