With Wrestlemania 32 rapidly approaching, there have been plans discussed for former WWE World Heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar to wrestle Bray Wyatt at the event, according to PWMania .
Earlier today, the WWE posted an article teasing a new feud for the Wyatt Family, starting tomorrow night.
“After dominating the ECW Originals in a Tables Match at WWE TLC, The Wyatt Family brought the fight to The Dudley Boyz, Rhyno and Tommy Dreamer in ECW’s birthplace of Philadelphia on Raw, defeating the hardcore veterans in an Extreme Rules Match that brought the house down in the City of Brotherly Love. But what’s next for Bray Wyatt and his dark disciples? On SmackDown, The Eater of Worlds proclaimed, ‘We are not of this world. We do not obey your rules; we do not conform to your society. Sleep with one eye open, and know that we are everywhere. And we can never stop.’ Indeed, The Wyatt Family won’t be stopped on Raw.”
It could potentially be the beginning of a potential feud with Lesnar, but the “Beast Incarnate” is not scheduled for RAW tomorrow night.
Lesnar returned at a live event in Inglewood, California, last night to challenge Alberto Del Rio for the United States Championship. However, Lesnar did not leave the show as champion — rather taking both Del Rio and his fellow League of Nations partner, Rusev — to Suplex City.
At this time, Lesnar is not scheduled to be at the Slammy Awards edition of RAW tomorrow, but plans could always change. His next scheduled RAW appearance is January 11, 2016, in New Orleans. While he’s not yet advertised, Lesnar is also expected to be at the Royal Rumble in late January, but his role — if any — is not known.
Since returning to WWE the night after Wrestlemania 28 , Lesnar has feuded with the likes of John Cena, Triple H, CM Punk, The Undertaker, and Seth Rollins. That is a huge core of the WWE’s top superstars, leaving the “Mercenary” slim pickings if he’s looking to fight credible opponents he has not wrestled yet.
In mid-November, an editorial by Stoney Keeley of Wrestling News garnered a lot of attention, suggesting that Wyatt vs. Lesnar be the direction heading into Wrestlemania 32.
“On one hand, you have arguably one of the biggest draws in wrestling today in Lesnar. On the other, you have an up and coming wrestler who figures to be a central figure in the grand fabric of the WWE. Consider that the match would be fresh, new, and make complete sense from a storyline standpoint, and it’s a no-brainer.”
Also, on a recent edition of WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross’ podcast, The Ross Report, wrestling legend Kevin Sullivan talked about a potential Wyatt vs. Lesnar match, via Wrestling Inc . The former WCW superstar talked about how Wyatt has the potential to be a big star in WWE and would be in better position if the WWE had not “stopped and started his push.”
“Suppose Wyatt came from NXT [to WWE’s main roster] now, not that he [has] had two years of exposure and they stopped and started his push, and Brock had a hell of a match with this kid, and did a legitimate finish where maybe he went to tackle the kid, the old bulls–t, the kid moves out of the corner [and] he hits the post like only Brock can. I saw him have that three-way match where he hit those stairs. I mean, the stairs are still ringing. [Lesnar] goes down and the kid from NXT beats him and the kid from NXT is a heel and he gets over. The people are going to be shocked because they’re not going to think anybody from NXT is going to beat Brock, but you have to do it the right way. You just can’t throw it out there.”
There are still no definitive Wrestlemania 32 plans, as everything is reportedly still being decided upon. But the Lesnar vs. Wyatt match would be a fresh matchup if WWE decides to go that route.
