Meet The ‘Legends Of Tomorrow’ Ahead Of January Premiere, White Canary Leaves ‘Arrow’ For Good
Fans have finally got a look at some of the cast for The CW’s highly anticipated spin-off of Arrow and The Flash. The image, which was released on Marc Guggenheim’s Twitter account, features a number of different characters, some of which are set to star in The CW’s newest superhero series, Legends of Tomorrow.
Along with the Flash (Grant Gustin) and Arrow (Stephen Amell), the image features Caity Lotz (White Canary), Brandon Routh (The Atom), Franz Drameh (Firestorm II), Hawkgirl, and Hawkman. The heroes fought Vandal Savage in The Flash/Arrow crossover episode, and the events will ultimately lead to some of the characters going off to continue the fight against Savage in Legends of Tomorrow. (Thanks to Ra’s al Ghul, played by John Barrowman, collecting his ashes after Savage was defeated by the Green Arrow and the Flash.)
In a similar method used by Marvel in its Cinematic Universe, The CW is setting itself to contain a world of connected DC Comics heroes. In fact, this has long been the plan of the network which started with Arrow and its inclusion of character from The Flash. With Arrow currently in its fourth season and The Flash just starting its second, the crossovers and expansion of worlds has certainly been met with success for The CW. In fact, many fans are already looking forward to some of their favorite characters launching the newest series and expanding that world even more.
In particular, fans of Arrow will have to bid farewell to the White Canary (Caity Lotz), who is set to leave the show and star in Legends of Tomorrow. This should not come as a huge surprise to Arrow fans, especially given her recent death and resurrection.
According to Movie Pilot, Sara’s latest death and revival has come with a fair share of ill side effects, despite Constantine’s work in guiding her soul back to her body. This includes a certain blood lust that is similar to what fans saw in Thea (Willa Holland) and Roy (Colton Haynes).
In regards to the all of the issues Sara finds herself dealing with in the new season, producer Wendy Mericle recently stated that Sara will have to find a way to deal with everything happening in her life if she wants things to work out in the end.
“Sara is grappling with these really big issues. She’s still going to have the bloodlust and these issues to deal with, so she’s got to go find a different way of handling it,” Mericle stated in the interview. “The way that Thea has chosen to deal with hers is not going to work for Sara.”
At the same time, Lotz had a few words of her own to share about her character’s recent developments. In particular, Lotz noted that Sara is not one to stay in one place for a long time, which goes a long ways in explaining why her character will want to leave for Legends of Tomorrow.“She’s a wanderer, she’s a little bit of a gypsy. She has that in her soul where she never quite feels at home,” Lotz explained. “That keeps driving her away. Hopefully they know her well enough that they would be accepting of it.”
Although Sara will no longer be a fixture on Arrow, that doesn’t mean she won’t be back in Starling City at some point in the future. In fact, it is very likely that she will be making a few cameo appearances on the show in the future, especially after Legends of Tomorrow gets up and running.
Legends of Tomorrow is scheduled to premiere sometime in January on The CW. In the meantime, fans can watch Arrow and The Flash Wednesday and Tuesday nights, respectively, on The CW.
