Rob Lowe Honored With Star On Hollywood Walk Of Fame Amid Criticism Over Paris Attack Remarks
Rob Lowe, the star of Fox’s new sitcom The Grinder, was the heartthrob of a generation of girls growing up in the 1980s and he has finally been honored on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Variety reports that Rob Lowe’s star on the Walk of Fame was unveiled on December 8. Check out the coverage of the unveiling here.
Lowe also tweeted and retweeted about the event.

Gary Newman, co-CEO of Fox, spoke about working with Rob Lowe and how they knew he would be perfect for The Grinder.
“The great comic actors just have the gift and in Rob’s case, he does have amazing comic timing. Of course I loved his work on Parks and Rec and in Wayne’s World, but what really stood out for me were those DirecTV commercials where I thought he was just so original. It wasn’t much after that that The Grinder script came in and it just screamed to us, Rob Lowe. I don’t know if we would have gone forward if Rob hadn’t done it. It was hard to imagine anyone else. We asked people to consider other names, just to be prepared, but there was no one who generated any enthusiasm because they were all being compared to Rob.”
Fred Savage stars in The Grinder alongside Rob Lowe and Vulture reports that Savage was rather intimidated when he came to work on the set.
“Since I was a kid, I looked up to Rob. His whole oeuvre could serve as signposts for key moments in my life, so there is a bit of starstruckness when you’re working with someone like that — or there could be.”
However, it seems that there are a number of people who aren’t so star struck with Rob Lowe these days, particularly those who saw Lowe’s Twitter posts after the Paris terrorist attacks.
This is either the worst translation of an important speech ever, or one of the worst ever given. #Hollande

According to The Wrap, Lowe is taking a lot of heat for his comments after French President Hollande gave his speech following the attacks. One Twitter user wrote just what they thought and didn’t mince words.
“Rob Lowe is quite honestly a piece of lowlife scum and if you havent seen his tweet please dont search for it its atrocious and upsetting.”
The Wrap also reports that Rob Lowe was even criticized for tweeting “Vive la France” and he has responded to the criticism he has received.
“Wow. For you trolls out there, the phrase ‘Vive La France’ is the traditional expression of SUPPORT for France. Don’t misinterpret my words.”
He also tweeted his love for France.
“Lived in France, and spend a ton of time there. Been in that stadium. This is all so devastatingly sad for a place I love. #FrenchPrayers.”
At least Rob Lowe and his wife, Sheryl Berkoff, won their tax case against the state of California. The Sacramento Bee reports that previously Lowe said the Franchise Tax Board had not taken into consideration the extensive remodeling they had done on their house when calculating the tax owing on the $25 million sale of the home. He and Berkoff appeared before the board personally to plead their case, which Low said he took very seriously.
“I take this very seriously. I’ve been paying my taxes in this state since I was 15 years old… and it’s a privilege.”
Lowe adding that he was seeking “common sense and fairness and expediting.”
The state Board of Equalization determined last month that the couple owed taxes on $13 million, rather than $18 million.
