Austin Mahone’s Surprise Mix-Tape Includes A Duet With Ex, Becky G
Austin Mahone and Becky G are back together. Musically, anyway. The exes teamed up for a romantic duet off Austin’s surprise free mix-tape appropriately titled This Is Not the Album.
Austin Mahone hasn’t still released his highly-anticipated debut album. Mahone has hinted that it won’t come out until 2016. Instead, he released a project he’s been working on. The 19-year-old released his free mix-tape called This Is Not the Album on Thursday, Dec. 17, as an early Christmas present to his fans. In one of his social media posts, Mahone thanked his fans for their patience and support.
“I’ve been working so hard on my new album, and I’ve been taking a lot of time figuring out my new sound and making my debut perfect. This Is Not the Album is for my Mahomies, who have continued to be so supportive throughout the entire process.”
The mix-tape includes 19 tracks, featuring artists such as Chris Brown, T-Pain, Sage the Gemini, and famous ex-girlfriend, Becky G. The two exes worked on a song called “Rollin'” long before they ended their relationship back in August.
Becky and Austin broke up after dating for just a few short months, but fans are still holding out hope for a reunion. Rumors have been circulating that they may reconcile their relationship and that their new song “Rollin'” might be another indicator that the rumors are true. But Austin was spotted with a mystery blonde girl a few days ago, making fans wonder if he’s moved on already. So far, the “Dirty Work” singer hasn’t confirmed any of the rumors centering his dating life.
Becky G is opening up to Seventeen about the real reason why she broke up with Austin Mahone. On the cover of the 2016 issue of Seventeen Prom, the “Loving So Hard” singer wowed in a sparkly prom dress. Becky hinted that she’s still good friends with Austin even though their relationship didn’t end up the way she hoped it would.
“It was really hard because we were very open about how happy we were. It was only fair for me to set the story straight after we broke up. I was with someone who was really amazing and inspiring, and everything was right about us except the timing. We had so many dreams and aspirations before we started dating and you can’t forget those. Honestly, it sucked really bad, but he’s so awesome and there’s no bad blood.”
Earlier this month, the 18-year-old spoke to Time about her budding acting career and her upcoming debut album. She revealed that she has no time for a relationship because she’s so busy recording and working, but she has applied those feelings to her music.
“As a teenage girl, I want to have a cute boyfriend! But I don’t got time for one. When you do have one, it’s great, but then you’re in this tug between [work and your relationship]. I’m taking that inspiration, being super honest about it and applying it to my music. It’s so relatable.”
But Austin Mahone didn’t just collaborate with his ex-girlfriend and a handful of big name artists on his mix-tape. He also got to work with Kalin and Mylie, Rob Villa, and Kylie Dion, according to E! News. Fans were treated to a live mix-tape listening party on YouNow that featured Mahone himself introducing each song before playing it. Fans then got to watch him dance in his chair while lip-syncing along to his music.
Despite the long and star-studded track list, the songs are available for listen on wetransfer and Soundcloud, according to Billboard.
