‘A Christmas Melody’: Hallmark And Mariah Carey Team Up To Give Us The ‘Merriest Christmas’ In New Movie, Starring Lacey Chabert
A Christmas Melody is a festive new holiday movie directed by Mariah Carey that will premiere this Saturday on the Hallmark Channel. It’s getting closer to Christmas, everyone’s favorite time of the year, and the Hallmark Channel has done a wonderful job in providing the best content to get you in the spirit. A Christmas Melody is about a woman who comes into contact with her biggest nemesis, an old classmate who is now an important part of the local school establishment. The movie is written by Jennifer Notas, and it stars Lacey Chabert as Kristin Frank, Mariah Carey as Melissa, Brennan Elliott as Danny Collier, Kathy Najimy as Sarah, and Fina Strazza as Emily Frank, according to City Beat.
A Christmas Melody is centered around Kristin Frank, a pretty recently divorced clothing designer who is a single mother to her young daughter, Emily. Kristin has had a bit of a hard time, since closing her charming clothing boutique in Manhattan, prompting her to return to her hometown in Ohio. Upon arriving, she happens to see Melissa, a former mean girl and rival from high school. Bumping into Melissa makes Kristin feel especially low in spirit, since her stroke of bad luck with the boutique. And Melissa turns the knife even more as she relishes in her popularity as the local school’s PTA president. Despite seeing Melissa, Kristin is glad to be back home where she enjoys the company of her daughter’s music teacher, Danny, and her aunt Sarah, who happens to run a local coffee shop. Will being back home with friends and family help restore Kristin’s Christmas spirit?
Most of the scenes in A Christmas Melody took place in Cincinnati and in a small town outside of Cincinnati called Wyoming. The town’s residents were absolutely ecstatic to see Mariah Carey filming in their quaint little town. Producers for A Christmas Melody believed that Wyoming’s snowy backdrops and beautifully decorated store fronts gave the movie the most natural picturesque views. Mariah Carey, who is directing and acting in the film, said that it was important for the movie to capture the spirit of Christmas. It needed to have all of the things that people look forward to seeing and experiencing around Christmas time, such as glowing white snow, glittering lights, dark green trees, food, and tasty baked goods. The owner of one local bakery in Wyoming even changed the color of its walls inside the store to accommodate Mariah Carey’s vision. Many students from the local middle school also got to see some behind the scenes action, according to a report by WLWT.

A Christmas Melody‘s Mariah Carey also stated that she absolutely lives for Christmas. One of her favorite things to do on Christmas Eve is to make Italian food, such as her dad’s linquine with white sauce. For Christmas Day, she likes to make a more traditional dinner with home baked gingerbread cookies. In a behind the scenes interview with Hallmark, she also indicated that she hopes Santa brings her diamond again this year, since it’s her favorite gift of all.
In addition to Hallmark’s A Christmas Melody, Mariah Carey will also appear in Mariah’s Merriest Christmas, which will air just after the movie. Tune in on Saturday December, 19 at 9/8 central.
