As the Inquisitr reported, there were many surprises and snubs made by the Recording Academy when the nominations were announced on December 7. While the Grammys finally gave rapper Kendrick Lamar his due with the most nominations (11 in total), there were plenty of polarizing moments that happened during the announcement of the nominations.
One of the most surprising snubs was Fetty Wap, who dominated the charts but didn’t even receive a Best New Artist nomination. As for pop acts, there were plenty who were feeling the sting of the nominations. Lana Del Rey’s album Honeymoon failed to receive a single nomination despite being pretty popular once it was released. Carly Rae Jepsen, who made a pretty catchy pop album, was also left off the list.
One person who wasn’t letting go of the snub was R&B act Omarion for his song with Chris Brown and Jhene Aiko. The hit song “Post To Be” climbed urban and pop charts but failed to receive a nomination. Omarion sent out several tweets about being left off the list and got into a few fights with people responding to him on Twitter.
“Post to be” is one of the greatest R&B collaborations ever. CB, Jhene, & myself been in the game 10+.

Even though people act like its easy to make a hit (& it’s not). As an artist you look forward to being acknowledged by the game.

The odds have always been against me. I constantly prove you wrong. I’ll consistently do great things & you will have to celebrate me.

This isn’t a “im upset” (post to be) rant. This is a- ok so that wasn’t good enough. I’ll be back. Have my Grammy’s ready.

Despite some snubs, the Grammy nominations also brought out some positive responses from those that were nominated. Legendary crooner Tony Bennett received another nomination for his work with Bill Charlap.
“We put all our love for jazz and the songs of Jerome Kern — that are such a testament to the Great American Songbook — into this recording. It is always an honor to be nominated for a Grammy.”
