WWE News: Spoilers For ‘WWE SmackDown’

Less than 24 hours after winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on the episode of Monday Night Raw that followed Sunday night’s WWE: TLC, Roman Reigns and the rest of the WWE crew arrived at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, to tape one of the last episodes of WWE Thursday Night SmackDown that will air on SyFy.

Please note: This article contains the full spoilers for this week’s WWE Thursday Night SmackDown, which airs Thursday, December 17.

  • Roman Reigns is interrupted by Sheamus during the opening promo for SmackDown. As confirmed by Bleacher Report, the Celtic Warrior let everyone know that Roman Reigns is under investigation, and that Sheamus would be coming after the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Of course, one has to wonder how the return of John Cena will impact the title picture.

  • Alberto Del Rio vs. Ryback: With The Authority no longer intact, there is an open spot for one heel faction to take control of the WWE landscape. While WWE tries to figure out what to do next with the Wyatt Family, the League of Nations will continue to run roughshod through their adversaries. In this instance, they interfered to help ADR get a victory over “The Big Guy,” and immediately followed the match with a severe beat down of the former Intercontinental Champion.

  • Tyler Breeze vs. Titus O’Neil: As stated in the recap at Wrestling Inc., SmackDown saw Goldust flirting with Summer Rae during this match. The distraction allowed Titus O’Neil to get a victory over Prince Pretty and possibly put into motion a feud between Goldust and Tyler Breeze. However, Titus has been on Stardust’s case to return to the Cody Rhodes of old. Could Tyler Breeze and Goldust get thrown into the mix?

  • The New Day vs. The Lucha Dragons: It’s been a long time coming, but Kofi Kingston, Big E, and Xavier Woods are arguably the most popular threesome in pro wrestling today. Pulling a page straight out of Edge and Christian’s book, they put their heel personas aside for a moment to show legitimate respect for the Dragons and the Usos. Of course, the respect didn’t last long, and a fight broke out among the teams. A clean win for the Lucha Dragons in this match means they’re likely to get a rematch for the titles at the Royal Rumble. It’s still unclear if the Usos will get the same.

  • Becky Lynch vs. Brie Bella: Unfortunately for Team Bella, Brie and Alicia appear to be on Diva jobber duty until their “Fearless” leader returns. Becky Lynch gets the win after Charlotte interferes, but of course, the Lass Kicker was oblivious to this during the match. With Team B.A.D. at ringside and Paige still not satisfied, WWE appears to be building towards a Fatal Four-Way for the WWE Divas Championship.

  • Kevin Owens vs. Dolph Ziggler: If the WWE plans on a three-way feud for the Intercontinental Championship, it would be hard to pick a better threesome than Dean Ambrose, Kevin Owens, and Dolph Ziggler. This match ended when KO was DQ’d. Ambrose made an appearance, but by the end of the segment, both the Showoff and the Lunatic Fringe were laid out as Kevin Owens stood tall.

This episode of WWE Thursday Night SmackDown will air on Thursday, December 17 on the SyFy network. The show begins at 8/7c. WWE SmackDown can be streamed on-demand the following morning via Hulu Plus.
