Spice Girls Reunite To Announce New Musical, ‘Viva Forever!’
The Spice Girls are back. Well, they will be this fall. The famous girl group reunited today to announce their new musical, Viva Forever!, which will grace stages in London later this year.
Melanie Chisholm, Melanie Brown, Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell, and Victoria Beckham (Sporty spice, Scary Spice, Baby Spice, Ginger Spice, and Posh Spice) reunited today to talk about their new tour. Viva Forever! will tell the story of four girls who enter a television singing contest. It will also feature plenty of Spice Girls music.
The SF gate reports that the show was written by comedian Jennifer Saunders. It will be produced by Judy Craymer, who created the ABBA musical “Mamma Mia.”
Mel C said: “It’s better than we could ever have imagined.”
Beckham added that Viva Forever! will “be introducing a whole new generation to Girl Power.”
The Spice Girls were a huge hit in the 1990s with their song “Wannabe” and their tight Union Jack dresses. The group sold 75 million records around the world before they split up in 1998. The group reunited briefly for a tour in 2007-2008. The Spice Girls musical will be the first time that all five members will perform together since the reunion tour.
The new musical was announced today at the Central London Hotel where the group’s hit single “Wannabe” was filmed.
