‘Outlander’ Stars Sam Heughan And Caitriona Balfe Continue Flirtation On Twitter, Sam Reveals His ‘Bucket List’
It’s no secret that Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe share an incredible amount of chemistry in their roles as Jamie and Claire on Outlander. Just as fans love to see the two play out their romance on the show, many fans equally enjoy Heughan and Balfe’s flirtatious exchanges on social media.
The most recent off-set interaction between the two stars happened while filming for the second season of Outlander, which was under way in Scotland. While the cast and crew were working on the production of the new season, Heughan and Balfe took to social media to take a stab at each other’s horse riding abilities.
“Amazing sunny day on horseback,” Balfe posted on Twitter. “Not even @SamHeughan could ruin it!!!! #onlykidding BUT #sleephylovesmore.”
Not to be outdone, it did not take Heughan long to offer a response. “@caitrionabalfe he doesn’t. And you’re a horse tart,” the actor stated on his Twitter account. “On you 2nd, 3rd???!!!!”
Naturally, fans were quick to pick up on the exchange, with many expressing their own wishes for the two to finally get together. Although a potential romance between the Outlander stars may never become a reality off screen, their playful posts certainly offer a welcome break between seasons.
Meanwhile, apart from his social media flirts with Balfe, Heughan has officially declared his very own “bucket list destinations.” According to Scotland Now, Heughan has three locations that he would love to visit at some point during his life.Considering how much Heughan enjoys being in the outdoors and hiking, the locations he named did not come as a huge shock. “I would love to visit the Alps, the Himalayas, certainly Everest,” Heughan shared. “I’m kind of fascinated by these men and women that climb up the highest peaks in the world—there’s a bit of a draw there—so those places are definitely on my bucket list.”
Heughan’s love for everything outdoors is not something he keeps a secret. In fact, hiking and outdoor training is one of the ways the Outlander star manages to keep in such great shape for the hit series. “I love to get outdoors as much as I can. I go hill walking, mountain climbing, and do a bit of rock climbing, as well. It’s so easy to get around,” he stated.
Apparently, the outdoor element is one thing Heughan loves about being in his native Scotland. In particular, the actor is fond of the Munros Mountains, which are a collection of peaks that reach an elevation of a little over 3,000 feet at their highest.
“You can get in the car and drive, and in 20 minutes and you’re outside of Glasgow at Loch Lomond, and from that point onward there’s countless Munros that you can climb up,” Heughan explained. “I’ve done about 20 to 30 Munros now, and this next year I can’t wait to get back and do more.”In addition to his love for the outdoors, Heughan is also a big supporter of bringing added awareness to Leukemia and Lymphoma. This includes his very own project he started this year, named My Peak Challenge, which recently managed to raise over $100,000 towards researching the two diseases.
“My family have been affected by cancer – lots of relatives of mine have suffered,” he shared. “Having started doing work with the charity, it’s amazing the number of lives that it has touched… If being Jamie in Outlander gives me the change to help like this, I’m really happy.”
The second season of Outlander, which is based on the bestselling novels by Diana Gabaldon, is set to air sometime in the spring of 2016.
