‘Arrow’ Season 4 — Will We Finally Get An Olicity Engagement? Or Will Felicity Smoak Die In The Midseason Finale?

With only one episode left until Arrow enters its winter break, things are not looking good for Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards). According to Enstars, the official promo for the fall finale has officially been released and reveals that Felicity may be in serious danger during the coming installment. With that in mind, is Felicity set to die in the midseason finale?

The struggle between Team Arrow and Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough) has only ramped up in recent weeks, and Darhk is set to escalate his fight with Oliver in the coming episode. In particular, the promo trailer reveals that Darhk’s plan is to kidnap Felicity in order to inflict as much pain as he can to Oliver and to also take away his reasons for continuing the fight.

“The best way to teach someone a lesson isn’t to punish them,” Darhk states in the video, hinting that his target is now Felicity. “As long as they’re alive, you have something to fight for, that is what I am taking away from you.”

The clip then shows Darhk and his men taking Felicity with the promise that the episode “Will Leave You Breathless.”

From here, Felicity is shown being held captive in some kind of glass room. In the midst of Felicity’s heavy breathing as she fights for more air, she tells a helpless Oliver “I love you.”

Although it is not clear what becomes of Felicity in the episode, the trailer makes it seem as though her life is very much in danger. Given Darhk’s plan to inflict pain on Oliver by taking out Felicity, it is safe to say that fans will be in for an emotional episode.

The idea that Felicity might die is closely tied in with the flash-forward scene that was shown earlier in the season. In said scene, Olive was shown mourning over an unknown grave. With that in mind, it is thought that the identity of the person inside the grave would be revealed during the mid-season finale.

In fact, Arrow executive producer Wendy Mericle backed up this idea during an interview with TV Line, promising fans that additional flash-forwards would occur “here and there… right around midseason.”

“We’re definitely toying with that,” she added. “And when and if we do decide to do that, it will reveal even more pertinent information about not who’s going to be in the grave but certainly where our characters are when that [death] happens.”

With Felicity’s fate now up in the air going into the midseason finale, it would appear as though she might be the one in the grave. Whatever ends up happening in regards to Felicity, it is clear that the coming episode will feature a lot of exciting developments, including Oliver’s team moving against Darhk.

According to Kpopstarz, the official synopsis revealed that Oliver will be making a major advance against Darhk and his organization, HIVE. Oliver’s actions are apparently in response to another attack on the city by Darhk and his thugs.

Although Oliver and his team are set to attack Darhk and HIVE, things do not turn out well for them. While the details concerning their fight remain unclear, Darhk gets back at Oliver during his holiday party for his mayoral campaign. This is shown in the clip as Darhk supernaturally pushes Oliver through a sheet of glass at what appears to be a holiday event.

While fans are panicked over the possibility of Felicity being the one in the grave in the flash forward, there is also speculation that Oliver will finally propose during the midseason finale. Whether that happens at all or before Felicity’s life is in danger remains to be seen. Surely the Arrow writers would not kill off a newly engaged Felicity, right?

At the same time, the episode will also feature Malcolm (John Barrowman) making a visit to Thea (Willa Holland) and leaving with a mysterious warning.

The fall finale of Arrow, titled “Dark Waters,” is set to air December 9 on The CW.
