Less than two weeks ago, the first trailer for Captain America: Civil War was released and showed fans what they had been waiting for. Only it didn’t show them everything and a lot of questions were still left unanswered. Two of the biggest things that were still up in the air are whether or not Spider-Man and Hulk would be in it. Now, those answers are known.
If you only want to see what is released in trailers and not really know any other confirmed rumors or SPOILERS for Captain America: Civil War , then stop reading now.
Many have wondered if Mark Ruffalo would be showing up in the big-time Marvel film set for release next year. He was seen on the set and a lot thought that Bruce Banner aka Hulk would end up appearing in Civil War at some point.
Not long after those rumors emerged, Inquisitr reported that Hulk had been officially cut from the film. Then, rumors started up again that he would be in it, but what’s the truth?
Entertainment Weekly caught up with screenwriter Christopher Markus and straight up asked him if Hulk and/or Thor would be in Civil War . Neither of them showed up in the trailer, but would hidden gems be in the finished product?
“You put those guys in a fight, it’s over quickly. It’s like, ‘Well, we have the Hulk on our side.’ Oh, fine, then.”
He has a good point.
Apparently, the Quinjet that Hulk took off in, at the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron , will be seen, but not him. There won’t be any sign of Bruce Banner, and it’s only going to build up the intrigue for the “big guy” even more.
So, neither of the strongest members of the Avengers will be in Civil War , but both are going to be in Thor: Ragnarok . Apparently, the two will not only work with one another, but also have a fight over something, and it’s going to be huge.
Now, the next question is about everyone’s favorite web-slinger, Spider-Man , and whether he will be in Civil War or not. Everyone has wondered if he would be in there or not, and when speaking to Entertainment Weekly , Robert Downey Jr. ended up spilling and spoiling it.
“[Don] Cheadle and I are just going, ‘Wow, dude, look at this.’ We’re now like the old guard, and our storyline carries real weight just because of our history in the [canon]. But we’re also looking around like, ‘Who thought that Falcon and Black Panther and Ant-Man and now Spider-Man…?’ I mean it’s like wow, this thing is just crazy.”
Sure, Spidey may not end up being in the movie a whole lot, but his first ever appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) after coming over from Sony will happen in Civil War .
So, we now know for sure that all of the usual suspects are going to be in Captain America: Civil War , and that does include Spider-Man. Two big names, Hulk and Thor, will likely be mentioned and talked about, but won’t show their faces in next year’s film.
Captain America: Civil War is scripted by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely ( Captain America: The Winter Soldier ). The film stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Paul Bettany, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Rudd, Emily VanCamp, Frank Grillo, William Hurt, Daniel Brühl, and Tom Holland. Captain America: Civil War opens in theaters on May 6, 2016.
Iron Man and Captain America will be the two biggest names facing off against one another in Captain America: Civil War , but the focus is on who else will or won’t be in it. Spider-Man will be there and make his MCU debut. Hulk and Thor? Well, fans will just have to wait a bit longer on them.
