Jermaine Jackson: Wife Arrested For Domestic Assault
It seems Jermaine Jackson had a less than ideal Thanksgiving holiday weekend after his wife Halima Rashid was arrested for domestic assault. She’s accused of biting the singer’s leg during a heated argument.
Entertainment Tonight (ET) reports that Rashid, 38, allegedly bit Jackson’s leg during a couple’s spat this weekend, which led the singer to promptly call the police. The incident occurred at the couple’s Woodland Hills, California, home on Saturday night. Rashid was arrested and spent around five hours in jail. She was released on a $50,000 bail. She’s expected in court for the felony domestic assault charge on December 23.
Jackson, 60, met Rashid in 2004 while they both were in line at a Starbucks. Originally from Afghanistan, Rashid comes from a wealthy family and it’s rumored that she wasn’t impressed with Jackson’s family connections or his singing career when they met each other. Yet the pair still hit it off so well that they were married eight months later in a Los Angeles mosque.
Although the dispute occurred at the couple’s Los Angeles home, they also have homes in the Middle East, and they frequently make trips together as a seemingly happy couple.
In September, Rashid celebrated her birthday, and according to her Twitter account, it seems as though the couple were in good spirits and happy with each other. In fact, Jackson has always praised his wife during interviews and is always pictured holding her hand during outings, which makes the dispute surprising to his fans.
In 2014, Jackson and Rashid appeared on ABC’s Celebrity Wife Swap, a television show in which famous wives or partners temporarily trade places in each other’s homes and attempt to take care of each other’s spouses, children, and family life. Although Jackson and Rashid don’t have any children, their dog Fiji appeared on the show.
During the show, Jackson was matched up with Isabella Hoffman, Daniel Baldwin’s former girlfriend whom he met when they both starred in the 1990s television show Homicide: Life on the Street. While Rashid paired up with Baldwin and got along well with him, Jackson had major issues living with Hoffman for a week. Hoffman couldn’t deal with Jackson’s mass collection of cologne, clothes, and other fashion items, and tried to convince him to get rid of some things.

Jackson, rumored to have obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), reacted to Hoffman’s requests by arguing with her and eventually locking himself in his room for the remainder of the episode’s production. He finally appeared on the final portion of the episode, known as the “round table” meeting, where the spouses discuss what happened during the week, but fans of the show were so disgusted with Jackson’s behavior that they called him a “spoiled diva.”
There’s been no indication that Jackson’s hoarding tendencies or spoiled behavior led to Rashid’s alleged domestic assault charges. Neither Rashid nor Jackson have yet commented on the issue.
Rashid is Jackson’s third marriage. In 1973, the singer married Hazel Gordy, the daughter of his former record producer, Berry Gordy. The marriage lasted until 1988 and the couple had three children together. In 1995, Jackson married Alejandra Genevieve Oaziaza, and the couple had two children together before divorcing in 2003.
Both Jermaine Jackson and Rashid are of the Islam faith. Jackson converted to Islam after a trip to Bahrain in 1989.
