The Han Solo movie cast is finally open for auditions. With Harrison Ford obviously being a little too old to play his younger self (and Disney apparently not wanting to do the Jeff Bridges trick from Tron: Legacy again), it’s time to find someone who will replace him in the time period before he became the iconic “scruffy-looking nerf-herder.”
Whoever plays the role will have a lot to live up to. Han Solo is revered as one of the most beloved scoundrels to hit the Star Wars universe, as well as our own. He made romance funny when Leia told him she loved him, and he replied, “I know.” He even became the recipient of a Wookiee life debt, which probably wasn’t easy for an ordinary human. The new Han Solo will need to pull off not only the personality but even the body language. Probably billions around the world have seen the original Star Wars trilogy and know his every quirk.
So far, over 2,500 potential actors have auditioned for the title role of the Han Solo movie cast, according to Collider . Chris Miller and Phil Lord, directors of The Lego Movie , will lend their talents to seeing original Star Wars alumni Lawrence and John Kasdan’s screenplay come to life the way they intend it to. In such capable hands, the Han Solo spinoff movie has a good chance of delivering, but it still comes down to who is playing the main role.
The following are some known actors who have put their names in the proverbial hat.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson ( Avengers: Age of Ultron , Kick-Ass ) may be on the older side of the age range that Miller and Lord are looking for, but he’s shown a decent range in his filmography. He’s been everything from a high school loser-turned-vigilante to a cocky speedster.
Miles Teller ( Fantastic Four ) is even older, and it’s unknown if the directors would even take a chance with him after the failure of his last major motion picture.
Hunter Parrish ( Weeds ) doesn’t have a lot of major roles under his proverbial belt, but the 28-year-old certainly looks like a young Harrison Ford, a possible fan favorite for the lead in the Han Solo movie cast.
Dave Franco ( 21 Jump Street ) and Rami Malek ( Need for Speed , Until Dawn ) are both past the age range that Star Wars head Kathleen Kennedy has stated (late teens, early 20s), but have auditioned anyway.
Coming Soon has listed other actors who fall into the target age range, who have read and/or sent in an audition tape.
Chandler Riggs ( The Walking Dead ), Leo Howard ( Kickin’ It ), Nick Robinson ( Jurassic World ), Ansel Elgort ( The Fault in Our Stars ), Jack Reynor ( Transformers: Age of Extinction ), Logan Lerman ( Fury ), Landon Liboiron ( Hemlock Grove ), and Tony Oller ( The Purge ) could all be considered. Many of them are generally untested, but in that age range, most actors don’t have much experience to work with unless they started really young.
@colliderfrosty @AnthonyIngruber well, literally everyone is in play at this point! https://t.co/BCUjiRQOZO

A few names pop out from the crowd of potential Han Solo movie cast lead possibilities. Nick Robinson had recent success as Ty Simpkins’ adventurous older brother in Jurassic World . Jack Reynor might be tied up with Transformers 5 and could have a scheduling conflict if he’s cast for a recurring role. Logan Lerman, unfortunately, gained his fame as the title character in the horrible Percy Jackson films, but he also starred in the Emma Watson film Perks of Being a Wallflower .
The film is still a couple of years from even being in production for the Han Solo movie release date, so a lot is unknown. Do any young actors stand out to you for the lead role in the Han Solo movie cast?
