WWE star John Cena reached another impressive milestone this week and it had nothing to do with his skills in the wrestling ring.
Cena, a 10-time WWE Championship winner, granted his milestone 300th wish to Pennsylvania youth with a spinal condition Wednesday, continuing his streak as the most popular celebrity granter in Make-A-Wish Foundation history.
The boy, seven-year-old Jonathan Littman, was treated to a behind-the-scenes tour and John Cena’s personal seats at Monday Night Raw on June 18.
Thinking he was headed to Emmy® Award-winning Good Morning America for a studio tour, Littman was then interviewed on the national morning show by ABC News’ weather editor Sam Champion. Little did, Littman know that Cena and the Good Morning America crew had a slightly bigger surprise up their sleeves.
During the interview, the pro wrestler and actor walked out to Jonny’s surprise and presented him with another gift — tickets for him and his family to attend the 1,000th episode of the WWE show.
“Jonathan Littman is a tremendous young man and such an inspiration,” said WWE Superstar John Cena. “Of all the tough guys I tangle with in the WWE ring, I’ve never encountered more bravery or toughness than I see in each wish kid I meet. Wishing is powerful stuff.”
“I truly give hats off to Make-A-Wish for keeping statistics,” Cena added. “They had a nice little celebration for me at 200, and I humbly said we should do it at 1,000. We’re just getting started.”
ESPN reports that to put Cena’s achievement into perspective, other big name celebrities such as Michael Jordan, Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt Jr., and Hulk Hogan have granted about 200 wishes, while Kobe Bryant is in the 100-wish range.
