Mary-Kate Olsen proved that she’s not just one of the Olsen twins , forever seen as a duo with sister Ashley Olsen, when she recently married Olivier Sarkozy in Manhattan, reported Us Weekly .
Engaged since February, 2014, Mary-Kate, 29, and Olivier, 46, tied the knot in front of about 50 guests in an intimate outside setting prior to heading inside for an elegant dinner with friends and family to celebrate the union of Olsen and Sarkozy. The parents of Mary-Kate and Olivier both were present.
Olsen and Sarkozy began dating in 2012, with their outings ranging from basketball games to New York City sidewalk strolls. The newlyweds reside in a townhouse estimated to be worth $6.25 million, in NYC.
Mary-Kate has, along with Ashley, grown up in the public spotlight after portraying Michelle Tanner together on Full House . Although the Olsen twin has never been married, her new husband is divorced from Charlotte Bernard, and the father of two children.
“Mary-Kate has made him a better father. She remembers all the kids’ special events,” an insider shared with Us . “She thinks he’s a great dad.”
If you’re hoping for photos of the Olsen weddingthat guests secretly took with their cell phones, it’s not going to happen, because they had to surrender their phones prior to entering, according to Page Six.
As for elaborate wedding cakes or tales of expensive wines? Not exactly. Instead, the unusual wedding decorations struck an unusual theme, an insider told Page Six .
“Bowls and bowls filled with cigarettes, and everyone smoked the whole night,” revealed the source.
Since exiting Full House, Mary-Kate and Ashley have become known for their fashion careers, with The Row, as well as Elizabeth and James fashion labels to their credit.
But the Olsen twins recently disappointed fans when the news broke that not even a cameo of Mary-Kate and/or Ashley would be featured in the Full House reboot, Fuller House , reported Bustle .
To be aired on Netflix, the reboot will star, among others, Lori Loughlin, also known as Aunt Becky. It was Lori who got the task of disappointing fans with the news that the Olsen twins would not make it a fuller house.
“No, I don’t think they’re going to make a cameo. They didn’t this season,” said Loughlin.
Chief Content Officer Of Netflix, Ted Sarandos, had initially revealed that Mary-Kate and Ashley were “teetering” about appearing on the Full House reboot. It was actor John Stamos who initially seemed firm that the twins (aka Michelle Tanner) would not be on the show.
“I understand they’re in a different place and I wish them the best. I promise you will not be dissapointed [sic] with our reunion and spin off!!” tweeted Stamos.
So, were any of the Full House alumni invited to the wedding of Mary-Kate, other than Olsen twin Ashley herself?
Bob Sagetrevealed that he did not get an invite, reported E News.
“I was not invited, but I’m very happy and I sent a Mazel tov text,” shared Saget. “I’m very happy. I love her very much. I hope they’re happy.”
While the Olsen twins are now separated, their Full House friends are immersed in making Fuller House , which Netflix will release in 2016. Candace Cameron Bure will star as DJ Tanner, a widow, who is bringing up three children while turning to friends and family for help.
Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber will portray Stephanie Tanner and Kimmy Gibbler. In addition, fans of the original situation comedy can look forward to seeing Stamos, Saget, Dave Coulier, Lori Loughlin, Blake Tuomy-Wilhoit, and Dylan Tuomy-Wilhoit.
And the official statement on the decision of the Olsen twins not to join the cast came from executive producer Robert L. Boyett.
“Although Ashley and Mary-Kate will not be a part of Fuller House , I know how much Full House has meant to them and they are still very much considered family,” emphasized Boyett. “It has been exciting to see how they have built their professional careers, and I support their choice to focus on their fashion brands and various business endeavors.”
