Courteney Cox And Johnny McDaid Call It Quits – ‘Friends’ Star’s Engagement To Singer Called Off
Courteney Cox has called off her engagement with Johnny McDaid, a source close to the couple revealed to Hollywood Life.
As a result of the split which happened a month ago, the Friends star is going through a torrid time, the source revealed. One can only wonder what went wrong between Courteney and Johnny, considering the couple were planning a wedding up until only a few weeks ago.
But as abrupt as it may sound, Courteney Cox’s relationship with the Snow Patrol rocker was running into trouble for a while now, the source revealed.
“They were going to counseling because they were having issues and fighting a lot, about everything,” the source said. “[Johnny] just decided he wanted to separate. He hasn’t really given a reason, but mainly said he wants to focus on his music and can’t take the fighting.”
From what the source revealed, then, it appears the decision to call off the engagement was instigated by Johnny McDaid. Apparently, Courteney Cox is not taking well to being alone and has been depressed lately.
“She is really depressed about it … extremely upset. She is just truly miserable about it,” the source added.
Unfortunately, the split might have come as a complete shock not only to Courteney, but her 10-year-old daughter Coco who, according to reports, had been eagerly looking forward to her mother’s wedding.
In an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in April, Cox had revealed that Coco was kicked with the whole idea of being a bridesmaid at her mother’s wedding.
“Coco is very excited about the wedding. I was going to hire a wedding planner, but apparently she wants to do it,” the Friends star had said. “She’s 10, but she wants to do everything. She wants to be the maid of honor, which I think is weird. She wants to be the flower girl, all the bridesmaids. She’s very excited about it.”
Moreover, there was hardly anything about Johnny McDaid’s take on his relationship with Courteney Cox, which seemed to suggest that the Snow Patrol front-man was actually contemplating splitting with her.
He had spoken of her in glowing terms earlier.
“Courteney is the most completely confident person I’ve ever met—at everything. She gets music. She gets art. She gets the way a scene gets constructed, the way dialogue works. And she puts it all together in her mind and then explains it to the world and makes movies that make people laugh and cry, squirm and jump, all those things,” McDaid had said in an interview.
Having said that, things can change pretty quickly in a relationship.
The couple had met through their common friend Ed Sheeran in early 2014, and had announced their engagement soon after in June 2014 to the world through Twitter.
