Filmed in Canada, Angel of Christmas tells the story of Susan, a working woman who is on a mission to become a featured writer at her job. And she just might get the chance to do that, since her hard-nosed boss has given her an assignment to write about a cherished Christmas heirloom that has been passed down in her family for generations. What is magical about this vintage wooden Christmas angel is its ability to make people fall in love. It’s a terrible time for Susan to think about love, as she still has thoughts of her former flame. But, Susan’s love situation may take a drastic turn after the handsome Brady steps on the scene, causing her to re-consider her Grinch-like take on love. Will Susan get the job of her dreams? And will the magical wooden angel make her have a change of heart about finding love?
Angel of Christmas is based on Jane Maas’ novel The Christmas Angel , which tells the story of Owen Thomas, a man who once fell so deeply in love with a woman named Jessica that he proposed to her “right on the spot.” His love for her inspired him to carve a beautiful angel that he hoped to share with her each Christmas. But when Jessica breaks off the engagement, a brokenhearted Owen travels with the carved angel across the ocean, where it is passed down for generations. According to Maas’ site, the book, like the movie, tells a story of love, faith, and miracles.
Holly Robinson Peete enjoyed being a part of the movie production, which made her think of her own family traditions that have been passed down. Though her father passed away more than 10 years ago, she loves to reflect on the wonderful Christmas times they shared, which included curling up together and watching their favorite Christmas movies. It’s a holiday tradition that she continues with her own family.
