Jimmy Fallon Sings With Adele, Talks ‘Father Christmas’ With Danai Gurira, And Finds Out Buzz Lightyear’s Secret Gripe

Jimmy Fallon knows how to pick talented guests for his show. Of course, everyone who graces his stage is full of talent, but Adele might just have topped them all when she appeared on The Tonight Show on Monday. Aside from a fabulous interview to talk about her new album, 25, Adele killed it when she sang her much-loved song, “Hello,” to the music of classroom instruments.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports that The Roots played on simple instruments, including a rainbow xylophone, tambourine, plastic clappers, a kazoo, and a banana shaker. Then, there was Jimmy Fallon playing a mean wooden block. Check out the video below.

Adele even had a green toy phone to sing into while on stage.

According to E! when they talked about Adele’s new album and how long she had been out of the music scene, Jimmy Fallon asked her if there was anyone she missed. Her answer? Rihanna.

“There were some teases for Rihanna’s new record and I am on the edge, living life on the edge — in a good way! I am the biggest RiRi fan. I love her, so I am very excited for that record.”

Tuesday also saw great music on The Tonight Show. Rolling Stone reports that Jimmy Fallon also had Jennifer Nettles on the show to perform “Unlove You,” which she co-wrote with Brandy Clark.

Tuesday night also saw Jimmy Fallon interviewing Danai Gurira, who plays Michonne on AMC’s The Walking Dead.

The actress looked stunning all dressed up, certainly a different look without her dreads and katana. Okay Africa reported that she talked about what it was like growing up in Zimbabwe (even though she was born in Iowa!) and she said that Christmas is really big in Zimbabwe.

“Christmas is actually really big in Zimbabwe. They have a lot of British influences. A lot of it was very very similar. They call it Father Christmas. Though I think now they call it Santa, but back then it was Father Christmas.”

She also did a clip for The Tonight Show about The Walking Dead and the whole mysterious fate of Steven Yeun’s character, Glenn, on the show. She said fans were curious and had unique ways of asking cast members. One fan’s question was particularly hard to answer. See the clip below.

Fans also got to see the wonderfully funny Tim Allen as he chatted about Toy Story 4 and did a turkey scooter race with Jimmy. Split Sider reports Allen told Fallon that Home Improvement was his first acting gig and that he learned his most important acting lesson from his experience with Shakespearian acting.

“Oh, I get it. I get it. It’s just really advanced lying.”

People reported that Allen also told Jimmy Fallon about Toy Story 4 and how he has always wanted his character, Buzz Lightyear, to have a good monologue in one of the movies. Instead, he has always been the one who reacts.

“My whole life is this: ‘Come on, Woody. Watch out, Woody. Woody! Woody, come on, Woody. Woody!’ And Tom Hanks goes on and on.”

As for the turkey scooter race, they cruised through the NBC studio and the winner was Tim Allen. Jimmy Fallon was just too slow.

The talent on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon this week has been incredible, and knowing Jimmy, we can look forward to more of the same in the near future.
