A Christmas Detour Synopsis

Written by Mark Amato and directed by Ron Oliver, A Christmas Detour is the perfect Hallmark movie to get you in the mood for love and the holidays. A Christmas Detour centers around Paige Summerlind, a beautiful woman who is about to meet her in-laws, just before her upcoming nuptials. Headed to New York during the Christmas season, Paige’s flight has been changed due to a winter snowstorm, forcing her to spend the night in a hotel. It’s not all bad, since she eventually meets Dylan MacKenzie, a handsome but cynical man who no longer believes in love. But despite his scrooge-like personality, Paige and Dylan find they have some things in common.

In the meantime, Paige continues to place calls to her fiancee and her in-laws with the promise of arriving as soon as she can, but as her relationship develops with Dylan, she begins to wonder if her fiancee is really the man she wants to marry. There are two things that are important to Paige: Finding the perfect man and having the perfect wedding. She even has a checklist of all the things her man must possess before getting married. For starters, the man must be emotionally available and mature. He must also be funny, honest, and an animal lover.

And she just has to have a man who is clean and who is willing to listen. Sounds simple, right? Well, through Paige’s friendship with an older couple who has been married for 20 years, she begins to see that finding the perfect mate might not just be possible. At the same time, the older couple’s close friendship with Paige and Dylan helps them to get back the spark that has been missing in their marriage. Will Paige marry her fiancee? Or has she found a new love with Dylan?

In an interview behind the scenes, Candace Cameron Bure says that every year her family gets together to sing an hour of Christmas carols together, and for Christmas dinner, she enjoys both turkey and ham. As a special treat for Hallmark fans, viewers can see an exclusive video of Candace’s daughter, Natasha Bure, singing “The Only Gift,” A Christmas Detour video that can be viewed on the Hallmark Channel’s website.
