WWE Superstar Cesaro has had a very impressive 2015. While most believe Cesaro has always been great as a WWE performer, he has not been given an opportunity to truly be given what he deserves, and that is a top spot with the company. Due to a loss of so many top tier stars or those out with other projects or unusable dates, WWE easily could have used Cesaro in a major way. Sadly, Cesaro recently injured his shoulder and will miss the next four to six months.
There are some who believe he can probably be back in time for WrestleMania and could make a surprise return to be part of the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, a match in which he was the first ever winner. That is if he is able to return by then, which is still doubtful. Before he was hurt, the plans for Cesaro were promising.
According to Daily Wrestling News , there was a plan in place to push Cesaro. Vince McMahon reportedly was very impressed with Cesaro as of late. If you recall, he mentioned him on the Stone Cold Podcast around a year ago when Austin asked about him. He said then that Cesaro was missing that extra something, and connecting to the fans seemed to be it. He found a connection and Vince has been high on him since.
He was very impressed with his matches with Kevin Owens and Roman Reigns. In fact, Vince reportedly thought the match with Reigns was the best match he’s seen from Roman and it was thanks to Cesaro. Vince has never soured on Cesaro from an in-ring perspective, but mostly as a character.
The idea was that Cesaro would be put into a much better position with WWE due to his impressive work. Due to so many being out, there was a thought that WWE could put a title of some sort on him. Some speculate that this was going to be the WWE World Heavyweight Title, but due to the Reigns and Sheamus situation, that did not seem likely. However, the IC or U.S. Title both were possible for Cesaro by the end of the year.
It is said that there were a lot of people very disappointed with Cesaro getting hurt. If he could have remained healthy, it would have been his big chance to break out.
Vince McMahon reportedly being impressed with Cesaro does show good things for the wrestler. With so many top stars going down, Vince clearly will not hold an injury over Cesaro. It simply occurred at the wrong time. On top of this, Cesaro has been relatively injury free in his career.
With that said, most of those who went down this year have also been relatively injury free. However, a great deal of them were long-term, independent performers who had a great deal of wrestling in their background before coming to WWE.
That does go against those from that world a bit; however, it probably won’t cause WWE to totally shift away from them. Rather, they will most likely try to pick them up earlier so they don’t spend a decade there like Daniel Bryan or CM Punk did. When it comes to Cesaro, some believe he got off light compared to the others. His shoulder injury does not seem to be as serious as the injuries sustained by Sami Zayn, Hideo Itami, or Randy Orton. All three either will or have spent close to eight months of action.
With Cesaro being speculated to be out half this time, he very well could be used well upon his return to WWE. There are some who believe Cesaro is at a bit of risk , since he could have more than what is said to be an issue going on for him. When opened up, doctors may find more that they need to correct which ended up happening to Daniel Bryan, costing him nearly a year of action.
